Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Finally, a fun day in the sun with the lads. B2, Fred, Jimmy & Mandy Drinnen and Paul The Jeweller who had his first run at the Wallow Pit on a very nice low tide. Breeze was a touch on the light side on arrival, but built nicely whilst rigging up. Ended up a relatively consistent 15 kts in close to the beach and a touch stronger out towards Arlington - which also made for a rough ride. Back in close, there was some nice patches to really crank down wind but the breeze just didnt play ball. Try as I might, I just couldnt get a super top speed. Not once did I get that tail walk, out of control feeling that makes you fully aware that 30 kts has been accomplished.

Great efforts by the rest of the lads with Paul getting well down wind toward Yorkies. Wont be long, he has the will power and persaverance to keep at it and I sure, in no time at all he will be out with the big kids. Blatted around with Freddo a fair bit and attempted to take B2 out of his comfort zone and on a down wind run, but alas, to no avail...apparently something about "F@#%K that" was mentioned!!!

Top afternoon - Used: The Tank, 47.5 BPR, 8.6 Loft RB.

Great afternoon sail...lots of sailors, sun was out, enough wind and low tide......meaning of life.

Sailed the isonic 117 today....and handled the conditions fairly well...still rough though!

Both Billy and Benny had 8.6 metre sails up today, I recon they might have had the work cut out for them out wide....

both handled it very well and should put in some good numbers.

Had a couple of good runs with Billy and James on separate occassions and both looked pretty shape on the water.

Great afternoon and great company....that include you too Benny.Wink

Isonic 117, loft s/blade 7.3,sting 44??

Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Really nice afternoon sesh fresh from driving back down from Lake Tinaroo after 2 days "minimalist" camping with a couple of footy mates...  "How's the serenity!"-  Bugger all wind at the dam resulted in perfect conditions for the water skiiers, so I couldn't help but head straight back down to the local mud pit to get a sail in...  Got out on the water with B1, Freddo, James (& Mandy watching from the beach) and new face Paul.

Good fun had, sunny skies, smiling faces and the wind ended up being better than expected, which is always nice!  How good is this place we live in!!!

Think everyone had their fair share of fun! Cool  B1 was trying to crank some downwinders, Freddo was blatting around effortlessly, James was looking super cool getting nice air off the swell available & Paul was giving it a good crack trying to hone back in on some skills.

Thought I'd racked up 60k's+ but forgot about the 8k's I logged on the GPS yesterday floating around at the dam...

Happy with the NM for today...  think we might have all got some beans! Laughing

Freddo- wishing you an absolute fantastic holiday abroud mate!  Look forward to a full debrief in a couple of months!!

Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne OD 8.6, Venom 48

"Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"

A great day of sailing, lots of sunshine and consistant wind on the coast - a rare combo. I hadnt been to Holloways for a while and despite the colour of the water (chocolate milkshake but not crunchy), the low tide and good waves reminded me - its not a bad place to sail. Great to sail with Tony, Benny, Billy, Fred and Paul all together - first time for a while. Benny and Billy did very well hanging onto their big sails while Fredy and I were happy to be only holding onto 7 m sails.. No broken gear, no turtles, no swim homes  -- must have been a good day !! Have a good trip to Europe Freddy we`ll miss you.

Till next time

Forgot to mention Tony- reason being probably because he was pretty much 2/3rd's closer than us off Arlington...  Bugger me, he sails way way out...  may well have trounced us all!

Great to catch up for a sail James- an Archer Point camping mission is a must!

And Fangy, B1 will now be nicknamed "Elvis" until such time as he can get his S#@t together for the NM's Laughing

Yes, B2, you did very well. The accolades are very well deserved, how ever, if you want a hand on the next "Walk of Shame"...Tongue out . Ross, not every pot needs stirring, especially not B2's Wink

James, your atfer thought of Ed's well being is somewhat wasted my friend. We all know Ed doesnt play well with others and has been segregated for a time until he can learn to accept common rule and learn to play fair with visitors. Nope, for the time being, it will be just Ed and his Turtles Cool.
