Billy (10637km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Now that was a very unexpected Top 10 Day at the Mud Pit. Just B2 and "Dereck the Dredge" for company today. Not sure where todays forecast came from but im pretty sure Livio didnt predict it so I was content just earning brownie points and spending the day with the bride. Well, that didnt go to plan. Today, I blew all of the available brownie points after getting a text from B2 indicating that there might be the possibility of a sail on big gear - see you in 1/2 hr. On arrival, the tide was low and building towards high, and there was white caps as far as the eye could see. Solid 15 kts with a few stronger squirts out wide where Dereck was busy doing his business. Super fun arvo and the last hour was the most entertianingh for B2 who caught me in the act of piroetting around the front of my board after recieving a not so well timed bum slap in the later stages when it was super rough and confused and very much oat the high tide mark. Gladly pulled up stumps whilst the current King ran a few more laps to secure his kingdom. Used: WT72, BPR 47.5, 7.8 ODM2
dr cam (40798km): Clifton Beach, QLD, AU Light wind sail off the Beach from 12-1 on the big gear .Used the JP suoerlight wind Warp 9m2 & production 56cm carbon fin . Nice little work out before an afternoon nap . Gorgeous weather up here at present !!
Benny McCarthy (14614km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Took our little princess Molly dog, who has now recovered from recent surgery, for a walk on the beach just before midday. There was very little breeze on arrival but by the end of the walk the wind seemed to be building. Checked the Arlington readings and they were looking very positive- SSE 18-21kn and on the up! Decided then to have one the pigeons deliver QB1 a message to get his arse down to the beach for a sail on the big gear (actually, in this modern age, the message was sent via text). The wife thought I was being very optimistic but how wrong she was! Ended up being another Top 10 day at the mud pit!!! Rigged the 8.6 Severne OD R4 along with "Big Woody" Futura 124 & BP 42.5... 15-20kn predominately ESE winds with a few stronger gusts here & there. A little overpowered at times, even with the sail trimmed flat as! Absolutely spewin I took only the one board & sail... the smaller gear would have been sensational out there today!!! Happy to have had some sweet outward runs in between the swell lines probably close to equal on the inward runs. QB1 was having great fun with some downwinders out past the barge just off the knob- cracked a nice naughty as well considering the lumpy conditions. QB1 also put on some extra entertainment towards the end of the session flying straight over the handbars and I just happened to be in the perfect position when trailing to see the whole act go down- Judged it a 10 outta 10 for the huge splash! Super stoked the weather man got it oh so wrong today! "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"
