Melville Beach, WA, AU

Day wasn't looking good this morning but by lunch a bit of a breeze started coming through. What a differance today, low tide wind slightly offshore water conditions about as good as it gets at Melville, some nice bullets but also a few holes in the wind. Tryed for one NM going away from the car park but hit a few holes in the middle, pity as was looking promsising for my first 30 on the river, ah well next time. Great to see our very enthusiastic Captian Anita show up for a sail and as always great sailing with the Lunster.

Melville Beach, WA, AU M91, 5.4K 33 tribalWS

The forecast looked good but the wind didn't come in until lunchtime. By then the rain had stopped and the sun was out, so I headed down to Melville to find Boz and Lunny and no one else. We had the place to ourselves until later when a couple of others turned up. Gusty, but flattish. The sunshine and the company was excellent. Wish I could say the same about my fitness and my gybing!

Not quite a top 10 day, but very pleasant.

So close Bozzy - let's call it 30 Cool

Dutchies was awesome 12-27knots and decent waves.

JJ pity it wea a small section and then the last 500 bit with wind shadow that killed it a bit, yesterday it was the moguls at the last 600, always nice going for it though peaked at 35, hard direction going away from the carpark as you know.

That actually looks quite consistent speed for a gusty winter southerly.

If you'd nailed a gust in the flats starting off and got 36-38 peak you would've got the 30 NM easy.

Funny , it looks to me like there's more area above the 30 line than below.

JJ lost pressure right at the end, wind backed off a few knots, front end not enough of a run up to the flats, sooo hard nailing it like the ocean NM, was off by .2 last year. That’s the fun with windsurfing, got to time it just right. Yesterday if we took off a minute earlier would have missed the moguls, first part was sitting on constant 32 then went to more bump n jump than NM

Yep - minimising the slow sections is as important as the fast bits Cool

River has the advantage of flat sections - ocean has steadier winds.

Pretty much balances out I reckon.
