Scoured the Far North for the possibility of a sail, any where. B2 and I decided that a cruise was in order, somewhere exotic, palm trees, humidity, somewhere special....so we ended up at South Mission Beach. BOM indicated a very tidy 15-20 kt northerly was the go for the afternoon. A quick pack up was instigated, last minute good byes to our spouses and off we toddled. Let the adventure begin.
Hit the beach early afternoon to a leisurely 12 kts Northerly seabreeze and a plethora of sailing vessels also enjoying the afternoon. Reckon there was 40 boats out sailing around Dunk Is. Sensational. B2 unfurled his newly aquired 8.6 M2 (bastard), I felt like stomping on it straight away. With the breeze sitting at a low level, I knew I was going to be underdone and the race information from the course boat indicated that it really wasnt going to get much better. Any ways, we'd travelled a vast distance to get thare, so we just had a crack. Sensational wildlife activity out on the water, 2m Hammer head, dugong, giant trevally, turtles and clean crytal clear waters. Not a patch on our local mud hole.
On again, off again all arvo. Super sore shoulders from pumping all arvo trying to get on the plane, but also trying to stay on the plane. A definate effort has to be made to get back here again during our summer Northerly's.
Used: WT72, 7.9 OD M2, 47.5 BPR B2 kicked my arse today. It was a case of "he who had the biggest hanky" today. Well done mate.

Sailed off the beach doing runs over towards Dunk Island and back... Such a fantastic venue!!! Lots of sailing boats out on the water today ~ Great vibe in the crystal clear waters!
First use of the newly acquired sail- rigged a treat with the 40 extender on the 460 Severne mast!
Met 2 other young sailing fanatics when derigging- both (flyweights) were having a bit of fun on their solo boards later on in the arvo after completing the sailing club race around the Island on their tandom sailboard!
Wind was marginal (at best) for the heavyweights, but still just enough to get in a bit of fun.
Bit of a drive to & fro but well worth the effort ~ will definately return!!
Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne 8.6 M2, Venom 48
