Stanley, TAS, AU, A late afternoon sail at West inlet. South Westerly and a reasonably low tide.

Nice long runs with this wind direction, finishing up the run where we normally start when its WNW to W.

Didn't sail too close to the bank at the start of the run just to be sure it was deep enough.

Isonic 55, Mach2 6.2, CL26W

Expected so much today!  Knocked off work early, first time on new 67 wide isonic and planning to do a 1hr and GPS5.  Was 25 knots solid and wished I'd brought my 6.2 when rigging (only took one board and two sails in the car).  Powered up going upwind on my first couple of runs across the river heading to South Arm.  Then suddenly sailed into a lull, then planing again for a few hundred meters before another lull and then the wind turned OFF.  Dogged back to where I left from and only just made it back in, in what had become an offshore 5-10 knot wind!  Pete had already made it back in, but poor Phil was still out there (he took about an hour to make it back in - luckily no resuce needed)!  Skunked big time!  Top speed was heading up wind in 25 knots and large chop!

Awesome sail on an fantastic SSW wind. Hoping for an exposed speed bank on the 0.3m low tide, but it was nowhere near it - needed to be 0.3 lower for that to work well, so tried for a bit of an hour. However it was a bit of an ordinary effort and I didn't make the most of the wind - was overpowered early on, had some really bumpy chop in places, was only doing short runs staying mostly in the shallows as I was sailing alone and then kept falling off in the gybes Embarassed - probably should have been much further out in the bay and done much long runs to get a good hour.

Well that was a complete flop! After spending several hours on a plane in the morning, thought I'd get in a couple of hours of exercise in the arvo. I would have prefered sailing though! Probably swam further than I did sail. As Dave said, we were completely shafted. 6.2OD, 90L Isonic with 25cm Tribal WS.

The 40Monster strikes again!!!

Dave you should have been at Mortimer / South Arm neck - you would have smashed it with a really good strength wind all afternoon.

Sounds like the wind stayed in for longer out there at South Arm Tim. I should have just driven there, but thought I'd try to sail up instead!

Can't believe that DaveSurprised Saw the Derwent at about 3.30pm and it looked like a sheet of white water and full on southerly, looked awesome. Must have changed direction pretty quickly.
