Spring is sprung, but it felt more like winter. That was a hectic session with a good chunk of wind chill thrown in. A big tide and some scary random burgs lurking almost undetectably added to the excitement. I went for the 6.6, Missy Flow and FF22 combo. I was well over cooked, even after down hauling the sail into hoop and could never get the power down. As a result, I spent the sesh pretty much in survival mode, hoping for a lull and flatter water to line up. They never did, but when they came close there always seemed to be a random burg to give a solid tug and induce a some solid sphincter moments.

And because wise rigging choices doesn’t run in the family, the Scud went for the big WT coupled with a FF22. How he kept it all together on such a big board on a small fin is beyond my skill level. Cap'n Calm might have rigged the best, but even he was finding things a tad hairy and enough to call it early in favour of a cuppa and head in the chaff bag.

Damn good invigorating exercise, but I am keen for some summertime action really soon please Huey.

Joined Fangy and the scud and Yunbas.

Not a top ten day for me. I'm still nursing a sore back/hip, from shifting furniture. So I wanted user friendly conditions, not there by a long shot. although there was enough water to use a big enough fin for the chop, the prevalent weedburgs dictated a 55deg deltoid.

Turns out I could have used the 48cm board, (no big holes), but anticipating a typical winter wind, I went with the 55 to get through the lulls and the 5.2 koncept to handle the gusts, with the 20cm@55d. I wasn't game to really send it downwind, a bit too choppy for the board fin combo, let alone my sore back, and the fear of being sent over the handle bars by a submerged weedburg. So I contented my self with just following the chop lines. I saw Fangy's momentum muscle get pulled up very sharply by a burg, so I decided to play safe and called it quits. But it was good to break the windsurfing drought, the rain held off nicely and there was some sun. Would have been fantastic if there'd been no burgs, just growing weed.
