Convincing underdone. I had the big gear in the car, but didn’t want to be overpowered. I suppose I got what I wanted. Careful what you wish for comes to mind.

The wind was trying, but never quite suceeding, but anyday on the big girl is a good day.

first try of the Avalon 5.5 4 cam sail.Plugged it into the 55cm board with 26@45 weedy. Tide was high so bigger fin made sense. Wind dropped off as I rigged, but had to go out anyway, floated around for a while and only managed 16kts, so came in and waited for it to pick back up. When it did, whole rig felt out of balance and draggy. Mainly the fin just felt too big, it was railing up and pushing nose down. So came in and changed to the 23@40-60. I also did the unforgiveable and increased the downhaul a couple of Cm. Everything felt lighter and more slppery, except the fin kept ventilating unless I kept weight off the windward rail, opposite problem to the 28. I probably should have experimented with downhaul before changing fins, I'm old enough to know better!

Basil complained that I was faster on my 5.5 than he was on his 6.8 KA race, So I offered him a swap, he loved my sail, but I just found the race very heavy without much more power.

Anyway it was good first taste, and I can't wait to try it in more wind.

Only had one incident that hurt, an awkward dismount in the shallows had my right knee pushed up to my chin, from then on my right hip was very tender, and I limped around while downrigging.

A good mob of mobbers today, I'm not going to try and remember them all because I'm bound to forget somebody!

There was heaps of mobbers and no smooth there today.

As I degrigged I realised that my outhaul had slipped off one of the pulleys and and was out about 5cm... the 7.0 was totally bagged out.

Hey, its not my job to notice this stuff. I'm a busy man.

You’d think one of the mobbers who noticed would have said something as we were all discussing it among ourselves wondering if it was some new tuning trick you were trying out.🤪

A row of donuts. Nothing in the GT31 but the the date. Imust have done something foolish.I was out with my WT proto and a 6.6 KA.

Mike offered me a go on his 550 w with the new bugs 5.5 sail. Huge difference. From heavy and clumsy to light and responsive.Magic.

Mentioned the experience to Annie. She said the the family are going to gang up on me and make me buy a Bugs sail. Thinking of a 6.0.

As soon as I find out from Mike or Fangy that the is not a killer when overpowered I will be ordering one under pressure from my family.

Woe is me . How they make me suffer.

I'd be happy to approximate the speed, I reckon you were only doing about 36 kts on your rig but when you got on Mikes you were doing at least 47-48 kts. I'm sure there are others who will verify....

A brand new 6.0 is making me jealous..
