sboardcrazy (24353km): 5-12kts SSE The Spit Lake George, SA, AU 7.5m Turbo -RS4 ( 112ltres) - 24FF A couple of us glass addicts turned up at the Spit after lunch. Jimbob went out first but couldn't get going then John . I went out and slogged around at 4kts. My longer Windtech would have been much comfier..I felt like I needed my front foot in front of the mast butthe nose on the RS4 can bury so it was very uncomfortable.. Put the Go pro on head cam and cruised around getting footage of weedbeds. Out a few hrs .Back in and John was the only one left and he was leaving. I had something to eat and a rest . At 6.30 it seemed to come in..Back out and got planing about 6 runs..17-20kts of bliss on sheet glass , late evening light and just me and nature..A lovely way to spend the last sail. Unfortunately the spare Go Pro battery was flat so I miissed the moment.. I've sailed 19/21 days ( could have sailed 20 but needed a rest). I've done 1045kms distance. No Pb's but 2nd + 4th best hr 2nd + 3rd best alpha 5th best nm 4th + 5th best distance.. I think it's my favourite trip so far. The Spit is my favourite spot with many good memories. Met some great people and sort of got my gybes wired..hero.. Until Lake Macquarie chop sorts me out and I can barely get around dry.. I'm going to miss those planing gybes in glass. Have fun you lucky buggers staying. I wish they'd move Lake George to within 5 hrs of home.. I've got some photos I took of various days . I'll post them when I get a chance when I'm home.. | ||||||||||||||||||
Chopper (3597km): Lake George, SA, AU Mistral Explosion, Retro 6.5m Lovely float around the milpond with Dezza and ian. Good opportunity to practice slo-mo gybes. |
