Blustery at Liptons!  A few talented, mature locals were out going fast, Hardie, Decrepid, Waricle.  I left the water just as the wind picked up.....damn!  My new/secondhand JP 54 slalom is a very nice board for a person of my stature and with the 5 metre Mach 3 race it went well for a first outing.  Just needed a bit more wind.

Melville Beach, WA, AU  Since the dodgy knee has been responding positively to abuse as the physio advised I thought I throw a longer than normal session in to see if could get further improvement.  For sure Meville delivered its gusty, shifty, holey best. Rigged the 6.7 sail to start which was perfect in the gusts but no good in the holes so rigged the 7.8 which was totally over cooked in the gusts and pretty much the same in the holes so at around 70Km mark was going to call it a day as it was all too hard and I got cold.  The wind was shifting from SE to SW and gusting from what felt like zero to completely cranking so was just hard work (which was what I had wanted I guess).    Up to this point had the place to myself. Had a chill for a bit and watched another sailor rig whilst trying to warm up.  Decided to put the wetsuit on, rig the smaller sail again and give it another crack.   Good thing too as the wind became a bit more consistent.   Around 3pm Ricey (nice to meet you) joined me for company and he had timed the wind well as it really kicked in nicely around then.    Around 4pm I could see 150Km could be achieved by just hanging in there but the wind was really cranking now.    At 148Km on the Apple watch odo I took a look at the main GPS and was gutted to see it was dead.  I was starting to make a few errors and since nothing officially recording called it quits.  Numbers posted are up to when main GPS died (flat bat).   120 Tabou Rocket, 33 Choco Weed, 6.7 RRD Move and 7.8 Severne M2 Overdrive

Nice sesh at Peli in a gusty frontal Southerly.

WT64 + 7.0 TR9 + 34 CL SL2.

Set up was on the money, a bit underdone in the lulls, but comfy in the 25K+ gusts.

Really high water, so I didn't worry too much about speed, it was more fun having some drags with Whitey.

Stoked with the alpha, cos there was no flat out there and it's always challenging keeping up the speed through the gybe in chop.  I had another one at 24.67K. Smile

So overall a pretty good sesh!

Point Walter, WA

Quick sunset session off Bishops reserve opposite Point Walter. Missed the best of it as didn't get on the water until near 6 but was good to get wet regardless. Cruise Missile with 7.8 Loft RB & 34 pointer.

Could not get settled today with the gusts more variable than normal. Did not trouble Flex who looked very comfortable over a great distance.

Flex! I always knew you were a distance sailor. Awesome distance for a gusty frontal day. Sorry the GPS did not record all of it. Always charge before a big session. Are you saying you did not have the wetsuit on for the first part of the session? No wonder you got cold!

I hope someone backed up your big distance. Congrats on the 2 sec PB also!

Well done Reg. Any day with 2 PBs is a good day. That 54 should serve you well.

thanks Anita.  Wasn't planning on distance and for sure in hindsight will choose another day with more consistent wind to go longer.  It was really just a test whether body would hold up ok to a few extra hrs.   GPS definitely fully charged just before I headed out.   I noticed though that I bought the last stock GW60 with green band and Ricey showed me his nice new one which had the orange band one so I'm guessing mine is an old battery and been sitting around for eons.   Didn't feel cold when I rigged up so went with sun protection rather than warmth to start.

Congratulations Flex on an amazing endurance effort in the cold and bluster.  I reckon distance is harder than speed as speed is often a gift of size and weather, whereas distance takes application and grit....well done!  Nice to chat Decrepit and Hardie and Waricle..Smile

Pointman, not worried about speed eh?  With a 27kt naughty on a 90deg reach and a near 25kt alpha in the chop?  Impressive.
