Coodanup, WA, AU iS111. 6.2K, 24FF

16 kn at Coodanup when I arrived, so Flex and I decided that was good enough to rig up. Tide was up but not too high.

I went conservative with the 6.2 as I didn't want to strain the ligaments too much.

Of course the wind dropped just after we rigged and after one run out Flex came back for a bigger sail. I plugged in the bigger board and was planing most of the time on that. The wind gradually picked up again and I had some whoo hoo moments and some fun speed runs, but my elbow and knee were telling me they had enough of a workout, and after an hour I decided to stop, even though I had plenty more energy and was stilll having fun.

I was disappointed to find that my GPS had run out of energy after only 25 minutes, so less than half of my session was recorded, and the lighter wind part at that. I am sure I charged that GPS last time I used it but that was a month ago...

Fangy turned up just as we were packing up, and was able to quickly supply Flex with a delta Fangy fin ( 5 minutes from order to supply) , so Flex should have more fun getting into the shallows at Coodanup next time.

I had an interesting experience on the way home. There was a breath testing station on Lake Road, which I approached with confidence as I never drink alcohol, so I was totally gobsmacked when the Police officer told me I had blown over the legal limit! Are potato crisps high in alcohol I wondered?, because I had just been eating some... The officer of course asked if I had had a drink today, and I said I never drink alcohol, so she asked me again, with the same reply. She then called over the other officer to test me with his machine, which read zero. The first officer said her device must be faulty and she was going to swap it for another.

I would have been very worried if I had indeed had an alcoholic drink recently, and I wonder what might have happened if I wasn't so confident that my result should be zero?

Coodanup, WA, AU     Arrived around 11 and wind looked nice.  Anita turned up and measured the wind and was reading steady 16knots so rigged the 7.8m sail.  Wind dropped considerably as I headed out.   Got about 100m but never got moving with fin dragging so gave up and rigged up the big gun.   Managed to plane at least then wind picked up a bit.   Was very lumpy as the locals calls it further out but closer in the fin kept grounding out and after the gybe stalling on seaweed that wouldn't let go.  So had to stop and remove.  This caused the booties to fill with limestone so started getting uncomfortable. Think I'll take my chances with crabs as they are less painful.  Then the wind picked up nicely and was pretty overcooked on the big sail but pretty fun.   The fin was too small for the big sail and had plenty of spin outs so I was fighting a loosing battle.   Even flat strap, fin was hitting bottom regularly so decided to call it quits before fin got wiped out.    Was rigging down when Fangy rolled up, nice to meet you and talk about good timing.  Asked how I could get one of his fins and he took off and came back less than 5 minutes with a whole bunch.  Took his recommended one. Good customer service to be sure.  Now have to finish it.   First time sailing here, was thankful to have captain explain the place as it could have ended a lot worse.   120 Tabou Rocket, 8.6 Serverne Turbo M4, 33 TWS

Wind was "interesting" today.  A rare SE, so onshore at Liptons and very strong at times but gusty and changing direction every now and then.  Tried three boards and three fins with my relaible 5m Mach3 Severne.  Others on site, seemed to fair better, Decrepit and Remery were going well.

Lilacs.

I'm holidaying in Denmark with the fam, so I thought I'd chuck in some kit in case the forecast delivered for a Lilacs mission.

The forecast was good...20-30K SE earlier this week, then less good...15-25K SSE yesterday.

The reality was bad...12-18K, so I was dudded big time.

Decided to have a crack anyway, rigged the 64 + 7.8M3 + 19 Maui Delta.

Got a few planing runs in, but never got anywhere near lit.  I can see the potential, so disappointed that Huey didn't turn on for me.  I guess I'll have to come back another time Wink

Very well done Anita...gently, gently catchee monkey, eh?  An apple fermenting in your gut will produce alcohol! Thanks Decrepit....we are like twins, well except for the beard.  And finally, Pinnaroos were all over the state today, well done everyone, especially Antman for propping up our averages.

Bad luck Pointy, looks like there was too much south in it. You need at least ESE for lilacs to fire. I hear it was very wet also?

You were saiing at almost 90 degrees to the usual direction. ENE is ideal.
