Hardie (35733km): Liptons gusty winter southerly, missed the best of it rigging up, the familiar story. Best part other than catching up with everyone, was trying out my brand new 2020 Simmer SCR 6.3m. 6.3m is my favourite size and most used size when we have a good summer. Its definitely a step up from my MS TR16 6.3m, its more stable, and rotates better. Too erly to tell but I'm impressed so far. Simmer 3XS 106 Simmer 2020 SCR 6.3m Pepefoil 25/48

Decrepit (54506km): A very welcome high tide blast at Liptons, I got the best of the early wind on the 48cm board with 5.7 speed and 23@40/60 weedy. Had a good run out to Ward pt, and checked conditions behind it. As expected there was a short section of nice flat water, but it soon went into wind shadow. So started back and ran into a big lull. It took me 4mins to reach Ward Pt and 42min to get back!, most of it below 10kts. So had a cuppu and changed to the 55cm board, with 26@45 weedy. Silly old fart, loaded the 5.2 instead of the 6.2, (well they both end in 2 and a 5 looks similar to a 6). So I had the choice of staying with the 5.7 or rigging the 6.2. I had the 6.2 out ready to start rigging it when wind picked up a bit, so stayed with the 5.7. At least I can still sail that when wind drops out, instead of body dragging the 48. Quite pleased with how I went today, after only 2 sessions last month, and a real struggle getting back from Ward Pt. the 34km is acceptable. But I'm glad I quit when I did, my shoulders are realy feeling it now. well that's interesting my 2nd best 10s was behind Ward Pt, the run must have been longer than I thought.
waricle (17713km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU CA66 koncept 6.2 31reboxed TWS. I thought I’d be over-cooked when I was rigging but true to form for every sail rigged the wind drops five knots.- and it did- so very comfortable in the gusts and undercooked in the lulls. High tide and lumpy so no real speed. Pinnas visited and were revelling in the conditions with some reasonable numbers. I knocked off early to nurse my shoulder for the coming four days of wind. A most enjoyable cruisey session with the local and visiting usual suspects. BIG Thanks to the prof for trimming my Homewood leg off my gps results.
fangy (22667km): Fangyland Bouncy Castle good times. Crashed around the joint on a gusty SE for a while. Big tide meant there was no smooth to be had, so no speedy stuff, but it felt fab to get a sail in at last. When I arrived it was edging into the high teens with bumpy bits everywhere, so I went with the WT Cruise FF24 Avalon7.0. I had a few runs back and forth but found the gustiness much harder work than I anticipated, so came in to chuck in The Barge instead. The big girl just smashes or bends like wet spaghetti when faced with any interuption so it was much more enjoyable. I found the best water was up the eastern end, but the wind shadow made it a PIA to try and sail. Otherwise right down hard against the Creery Island shoreline was the next pick. The only other thing of note were the appearance of early season weedburgs. There are a number on the flats already - on this morning's lower tide I would guess a dozen substantial islands. I also saw a return of clumps of the really bright green type of weed. I havent seen that for several years. No idea if that is a goods sign for general weed bed health or not. The river mouth entrances to both the Murray and Serpentine are to be dredged again soon. The spoil is going to be dumped in the estuary just to the north side of the entrance. I will let you know if that makes any difference to the depths in the area after they have finished.
