JP 45 Speed, ka 4.7 race, Tribal Weedspeed Delta 18.  I wasn't going to go to Australind but glad I did because Woody, Flex and Ant were there along with Waricle and Vic...almost crowded! It was windy and choppy with a few flat spots south of the launch site.  This was my first sail on the JP Speed and also with the 4.7 Ka.  Never rigged it before and had broken the mast for it 2 days before so had to make a mast out of two bits.  It didn't really work properly but I still managed a very good Nautical mile for me and a half reasonable 2 second.  with a proper mast, a bit of tuning and some flat water I can sense some improvements coming!  Another good day out at Australind.

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Wasn't planning on sailing here but Reg and Woody said they were heading here so decided to join them. General feeling is we could be hit with a snap lockdown any time so need to take any opportunity we can.   Good turn out with Waricle, BSN101, Vic (nice to meet you and very big lens on that camera), Woody, Antman and Reg.  Rigged 6.5 and did one very hairy run in big chop way overpowered so changed down to 5.7.   Was a good blast and at one point thought I'd get a much better NM than here as was maintaining 30kt for a good while (only about 500m) but wind eased off 1/2 way through and was back to 22. Got a few 5km runs in and was tempted to go to the end but was quite a bit of work getting back upwind so left that for another day with the wind more westerly.  Tide dropped a lot and because less choppy but started dredging the fin then wind started dying so needed a sail and fin change but was close to Cinderella time for me so called it quits.   5.7 RRD Move, 104 RRD FRW, 33TWS

Starting to get a feel for this place and loving it...Couple of runs on the 6.2 NX,but to much power in the chop, changed down to the 5.4 NX and was much more fun and in control when the wind was at its best.53 Patrick,25ws,,18 dw..was great fun sailing parallel to the road and overtaking the cars in there 60 zone :))  Good turn out of sailors, Woody,Jim,Reg,warricle Pete and a couple of the Busso boyz.Good to meet ya old salt and sorry i missed ya Dave BSN..

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU

What a fun session that was joined by some local crew, Waricle, Reg, Flex, Antman. Rigged the 6.6 with the Manta 61 and wp29 and felt overpowered. Felt like a more gentle cruise today in the long runs so tried the 5.8 with the Falcon 56 and 24wp. Felt balanced and the wind was around 20-25 so tried some naughtys. The wind dropped so I got changed ready for the warm drive home, then it booted in and I saw Waricle sending it. Got back into a wet wetty which wasn't too bad and did another 45mins. Stoked both boards held up with the car bog flat spot repairs in the chop.

I like that leaderboard. Now we just need to hold onto that score.

Good start to the month, guys, and congratulations on the PB Flex!

Surprised you were interested in making the trek to Australind for a third time in 4 days!

Great session Woody, especially the nm. We already have a better nm score than we managed last month.

Showing true courage getting back into a wet wetsuit in today's temperatures.

Well done flex on another PB. Good numbers all round Woody and Ant. I'm starting to think you two have a bungy rope attached when you're sailing.

Yes Anita, its a long journey but at least last 2 trips were fully emission free and will at least try to do these long journeys this way.   Not boasting but showing its easily doable.  Hardest part is grovelling to the wife to let me take it.  For any one intersted, Australind also has 2 of WA's fastest EV chargers right there within 5km of the launch spot so went to check out the Treendale 350KW charger on the return out of curiosity not need.  Was surprised to charge slower than my DIY home made charger (only got 68KW out of claimed 350KW?? where my home made does 72KW out of claimed 72KW) but to be fair my batteries were cold so will try it next time before launch.

I'm with you Antman, the chook pond seems the place for winter and according to the wise Waricle this place is the place to be in Spring and sure was a good way to start off the first day of spring.

But Antman raised a good quesiton, we all know what a Glory hole is but why is this location named as such and why in plural?

I don't know the answer to that question. I think Bender named it (Mandurah Mob). Their long term members should know how the place earned that name.
