Fangyland with Pas (out of hibernation at last), Cap’n Calm and Peter who was getting a taste for the weed on this side of the pond for the first time. There were a couple of pensioners down at S bend, but I can’t afford the petrol these days to drive that far so I just rolled the car down the front to The Hook.

The tide was about 60cm when I got there, which is enough to launch from The Hook, but by the time we finished it was down to 50cm and it was getting a bit too shallow to be comfortable.

The wind didn’t swing to SW as forecast and so the whole session was in WSW, which largely negates using the weed banks on the inside for speed. But there was still enough reliable puff to go for a stroll around the paddocks and compare fins and board settings.

The revelation for the day was the waisted fillet experimental fin was not wasted at all. The waisted fillet fin showed no sign of mischief in any water conditions. It even felt less draggy. I need to do a lot more test runs before I can back that up, so I will put that down to confirmation bias only. However, my second fastest run of the day was on the waisted fillet fin, using the Barge and on a slight uphill reach where I was just cruising back to base.

Confirmation I havent trashed another perfectly good fin with an experiment -  Top Ten Fangy Day right there.Laughing

Good fun at Fangys. Plenty of weed, but plenty of spots a bit too thick to be really enjoyable, I had several fairly fierce "tugs". But there was some nice flat runs just outside the weed banks.

I used the 55cm board, 5.7 speed and 20cm deltoid.

Peter used Waricles big board with my old Avalon sails 4.2 wave. He had a few nice runs, best he's done so far. It's amazing how early Waricles board gets on the plane with such a small sail.

Well, gota say, that went well. Best sail I had since March.... uhm, only sail.  The weed is back and getting thick.  Smile

Ok, had the f2 SX-R 58, sail was Ka R 5.5, with El50/18cm weedy

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU, Its been a long time since I posted.

What a great spot to sail. Hopefully will get back on the water more often from now on.

Need some new Kit. Firstly a smaller Volume board. ANY TIPS?

Thanks Rob for helping me get back on the water.

He did have a couple of runs with my kit today (CA52/SCR6.3) and went well, but I reckon his best speeds were probably still on his S-type earlier when there was a little more wind. Privileges will be withdrawn if he gets too close to me Laughing
