Liptons

Arrived at midday - rigged the Tabou Rocket 95 with the NP6.5m2 V8.  Felt great.

By the time the crew turned up the wind had picked up so I changed down to the V6 5.5m2

Hit a large stingray on the way into the shallows.

Great to catch up with the Pinnaroo crew (JJ, Windxstacy, Ricey & Geoff) plus met Stroppo Pepe and Duffy.

Some folks were taking big sails out in strong wind - respect....I was quite happy with my numbers.  Certainly would like to sail this venue again.

Fun after work sesh in a gusty seabreeze.

M112 + 7.0 TR9 + 36 VSW.

Couldn't match the speeds I got last Sat, I suspect because I rigged too small, really should've been on the 7.6.

Some pretty strong gusts today, but I wasn't as successful lining up the good gusts on my speed runs.

Nice to get out Cool

Peel Inlet, WA, AU 4.9K, M 73L 47w, 23 Pepe weedy then 24 elmo weedy

Liptons was Pb city today and looked like a Mistral display day with lots of beautiful blue boards making the most of the conditions.

The tide and chop were a little higher than expected but the wind came in as hoped. A bit too much for many.

I tested the Pepe weedy to find out what it's top end was. 31.5 I found out. Came in and changed fins and instantly got over 32 knots.

I would have liked to do more runs and get a PB (I was so close) but the 30 knot gusts were brutal and the spray and the low sun were making it very hard to see and dangerous so I decided to call it a day.

A second best 5X for me and a third best 2 sec. My best times for the year, but disappointed I didn't start out with the faster fin. (Sorry Pepe. It's great for hours and gybing but not for speed runs.)

Went out with rather too big a sail at 5.8m, but thought that would be good for downwind nm, and it was, even though it was quite hard getting back overpowered and with a small fin: a CL 23.5 first time used. Seems a good fin, but conditions were pretty testing and I had one huge spin-out. Someone said there were crab pot lines not easy to see so maybe that was it. Looking forward to trying it again.

Glad to have the nm PB since that was what I was trying for.

Then changed to 5.0m Koncept and thought I would have a bit of easier sailing - but did a big stack, broke my prescription sunnies and bruised my head. Still, I did not damage my eye, partly due to wearing a crash helmet I believe.

Xfire 80, 5.8 the 5.0 Koncept with CL weedy.

Good to see Windxstacy, JJ, Birdman and Geoff among the big guns such as Stroppo, Slowboat and Claude in 40+ knot land. Some awsome gybes on display. And dolphins out hunting fish.

Melville Beach, WA, AU 105 rocket, 31weed, 7.5 easy. I only had time left for Melville. I did long runs and was a bit disapointed with the speed. Not enouch chop? Too big fin - 31-  most likly. Still fun. coluld not sport anyone from Pinnaroo.

Tried driving to Mandurah only to be faced with traffic, so turned around to favourite spot...

Started off with new Severne mast on Overdrive 6.5 on the Futura 101 - got too tired after a while so switched to a small 5.3 S1 and had more fun.  Still trying to work out what works with what.

Point Walter after work. Some good squirts, but not epic. Nice to have some company sharing laps with Mark and an appearance from Trouty Trousers.

Hardly anyone around, I guess they were all down in Mandurah. Pt Walter relies on me for consistent company.

Peel Inlet, Liptons

Awesome day, went for NMs 'cause that's what I like the most Laughing

Did 3 in a hectic 40 minutes, 34.24, 31.91 then 33.7 so super happy as there was a fair amount of chop through the middle of the runs.

Then sailed upwind to join the others to try and get a decent 2 sec but found it quite hard to line up the gusts on the inside flats.

Super fun all in all, big smiles all around. Saw Snides and Claude knocking out PBs Cool

Good team turnout. Hope Ricey is ok - he took quite a whack.

(EDIT) Mistral 41 47, GPS 6m, DWS 21

An awesome day on the water with some great sailors! Anita, thanks for the updates on conditions and coordinating the meet-up. First time at Liptons for me and the wind really switched on. When I rigged my 6.0 Ezzy Infinity, Adrian (Birdman) thought it might be a bit much and he was right, given that it’s not a race sail a smaller size would have been a better choice. Hung on to it but couldn’t keep the power on in the gusts and towards the end of the day was lifting off the water heading back upwind.

Congrats to all who got PB’s.

Smokin’ PB NM Jon 34+ - raising the bar mate - well done!

David, hope you’re feeling ok this morning, after that nasty bump on the head, and can get back out on the water next week.

HUGE naughty JJ, and not easy conditions either. I hope Jake did a decent one to back you up!

Ricey tried his best, and has the war wound to prove it. Well done Ricey! I hope your head isn't too sore.

I tried for a nm too but pulled out after about half a nm, becuase the going was too scary. Pity because my half nautical mile was around 30 knots!

Super team effort yesterday everyone, with some great performances. Congratulations to everyone who scored a PB. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to drive to Liptons, it wasn't a flat as it can be but the wind certainly delivered. Top speeds were there for the taking! Glad you could join us Birdman, it was good to see you again.

Ricey, I hope that bump hasn't gotten any bigger!
