Safety Bay, WA, AU

Nice bit of breeze, fairly choppy out back but hey it made it great for a potential stack. Oh yeah thats right i did have a rather sensational stackEmbarassed You know the moment when one of those ugly choppy wavey things hits your front foot and whips it straight out of the strap.....oh dear.....(insert washing machine spin cycle) Surprisingly there werent a huge amount out, but i did have to be out by 4pm. Was good to try some of the old fins and a few boards then finish up with the Tribal to remember how good they are.

Safety Bay with Pete. A bit of ocean cruising out around penguin island and a few slingshots down the run dodging the kooky kiters.

A very nice way to end the working week. Good to see Lunny out, not many windsurfers.

Pelican Point. 155L / 7.5 m

Thought it would be 16-17 knots so only loaded my new 155L toy and 7.5m and new 8.6m.
So rigged "small" at 7.5m while everyone was on 6 and under.

Mainly stayed in-shore as the wind was too much beyond the yellow buoy. Built some confidence, went accross, and on the way back my boom broke.  Rigged it the other way around, managed another 200m before the other side gave up, but I could touch the bottom and walk home.

Inspected the boom. No corrosion, just overstressed on this gear and overpowered on my weight.

The board worked really well and I'm happy about the purchase. 26.5 is not bad for an 11kg beginners board. It felt really safe in the chop too.

Melville Beach, WA, AU Relaxing sail apart from the few out of control for 7.5 gusts. Geoff I did see you on the water. I was doing long runs across all sort of wind and chop. Just my relative was not as happy but almost got to beach start. 105 Rocket, 36 pointer. I have not used pointers for ages. Going strait seemed more efficient, gybing was different.

Coodanup, WA, AU 6.4K M91, 21 delta

A good team session at Coodanup with Jeff, Alan, Jason, David and Adrian. The plan was to try for a good hour and alpha today, but the wind picked up just after I had rigged and consequently I was overpowered and messed up most of the gybes through not being able to sheet in. Never the less a third best hour for me, and one of the gybes is just outside my top 5, just a little slower than the one I did last week - also overpowered. Probably my best alpha with the 6.4 Koncept. It really is too big for me to throw around sufficiently or efficiently. Gybes improved during the hour until the wind just got too strong.

Not very flat today despite the low tide. Than nm would be the bumpiest one I have done in a long time.

Could not get going on the Xfire 80 properly so thought I would try the Mistral 73 which went surprisingly well in the lightish wind: but no good speeds.

Nice to see Jeff and Anita

Pelican Point, WA, AU 8.6 Turbo 133 Bic 40 FO, 6.5 Gator 95 JP 32 Tectonics

Had the larger gear setup up but when it started to blow 20+ knots it was more than a handful so changed down. The wind was a bit flukey and the 6.5 and 95L combo was good at times and a bit light on at others. Just moved my straps to the outboard setting on the 95 and getting that back foot in at the start was tricky after a while ot all came good though. I should have changed to the 34 fin or back to the 133 but everything is easier in hindsight. Fun day and I was pooped after! Don't know how people can sail 100km+ Think I would fall apart haha.

Coodanup, nice cruise Mistral 112, delta 21ish and Koncept 6.6 . tried to improve on the hour but didnt have a watch. figured something like 12 laps should be an hour so did 20 or so.

didnt get very good top speed and was dragging a bit of weed about, also had the bottom cam pop off the sail early on but didnt want to stop to fix it. thought I would do that after 20 laps and then do some more but was too tired by then.

Yellow line is 2km

Melville - IS107, Turbo 6.5, Talon 34 - 1st downwind run following advice from the wise, had the best speed.  Felt really slow and I didn't even bother looking at the GT31.  Lots more to learn!

Well done on the hour PB Jeff. I was a bit worried when I got home and looked at my hour track - I had 28 laps - yours must have been longer than mine.

Geoff, I was thinking that was a top speed for Pinnaroo and then noticed it was Melville. Still very good going.

Chris - Good speed today

Great results guys. Congratulations on the PBs JC2.

Jeff, that's a nice hour. Congratulations.

Thanks Anita, it's nice to turn it in speed and the board not sinking at the exit. I was frustrated with the board last time and it turned out to be just a bad fin.

Have a new CL Speed Weed and itching to try it with 118L . Today would have been perfect. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hey, just noticed - 3000kms CoolCoolCoolCoolCool . What a milestone Laughing

Not sure an estimate that ends up with about double the time was a good one (sailed for about 2 hours, second one was only 17 knots.)

Anita good figures all round. Impressive nm in the chop and not much under your 2 sec speed. I know what you mean re the 6.4m- that's how I feel with the 7.8m

Sue, the 2 sec was part of the nm! I didn't do any bearaways because I was getting upwind and then going for an hour. I would have done some after that but everyone had abandoned me so I went back to base.
