kato (37520km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU Another play day at the office Still that pesky west wind that hinted at going a bit south but never doing so . So we headed to Sandy Point B to sail on an outgoing tide (Not ideal if something breaks) Much better angle with lots of flat water, except some of the banks have a few dunes on them. Still a great spot for open water blasting and spent a good hr down there. Getting back was a pain as the tide was still on its way out, so lots and lots of tacks to get back to the cars. Didn't help the the wind was geting lighter. Fun day with Daffy

Sailquik (29582km): Sandy Point. Vic I'm very glad that Kato talked me into having a sail today. And then he had the great idea to go down to Sandy'B', just inside the entrance. The wind was west to WSW and down there it was almost a square reach for 1.5km. A couple of knots faster going East. I got the sail trim spot on today and the setup was flying. I am in love with the Atomic Weapon 30cm fin. In this no weed area it was fantastic. Very fast reaching and off the wind, and still powers upwind. When we go down there we settled into foing for a nice hour. I was on track for a 23+ (Half Hour 23.6) and I head an ominous crackle. I quckly realised it was my Starboard tack harness rope starting to give way, but hoping for the best I pushed on trying to take a bit of load off it. Wrong move. A couple of runs later I had forgotten and BAM! I was skipping and rolling on the water. I managed to tie a knot in what was left of the rope and got going, only to realise there was a starnge silence. GPS-Logit was not talking to me. Looking down I was horrified to find it GONE! Ripped off my arm in the crash and splash! I had a wander up and down the shore for a while looking for it, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. It was only a $20 phone (which is yet another example of why I dont suggest you use your expensive one) but the bag was more valuable. Anyhow, that stuffed up what was going to be a nice hour, so now my hour includes the run down there and a bit of standing on the beach. Apart for that it was a great fun session, and I will be very keen to go down there a lot more in future on those winds. (low 20's Westerly) 2007 IS86, Atomic Weapon 30cm, KA Koncept 2018 6.2m.
