The plan was to sail the WNW from Nairns down to Boodalan island and muck around in the small chop for a bit. However, as soon as Cap’n Calm got a whiff of Boombas,  he was gone like Butcher’s dog on a sausage. Being the dutiful subordinate I followed him down to the flat stuff, and there followed some very nice mucking around on the smooth. The only spanner in the works was it was a tad on the shallow side so there was a wee bit of ploughing here and there. It’s times like that the ally fin comes into its own.

Just when it looked like this might be an exceptional lark, Huey decided to not only have a Nanna nap, but also shift more to the North. That left us both with a big underdone upwind slog home. I plodded for what seemed like ages, with a lone dolphin doing his best to keep me company.  Finally, with the approaching front, Huey woke up and put some guts in the breeze. A quick dash back over to Boombas and then point as hard as I could go to make the 8km leg back to Nairns in one go.

Happily, the plan came very close to fruition and I only had a small plod at the very end. Once ashore, I was well knackered and very happy to see Cap’n Calm ensconced with a cuppa. I don’t think I had the go-go juice left to sail back to find him if he was missing!

An unintentionally long, but still defo a Top Ten Fangy Day.

Fun session with Fangy, Nairns to Boombas.

Used 5.3 board, 6.2 koncept with fangyised 20cm deltoid.

Underpowered most of the time, but managed to line up a good gust with flat water at Boombas. Actually got a tad overpowered at times, had too much sail in my hands to pull of a decent alpha.

Here's the tracks,

The wind went more Northerly instead of more westerly as predicted, making a hard slog back home. I also grated on a rock just in front of Narimba Que. I didn't see any posts, but thought I'd gone over the shalowest part, but the tracks above say otherwise. Looks like that whole area should be avoided.
