iS90, 7.0RBlade, 30 Tribal Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU NNE 20-25kn

Very quick & late arvo sail and no time to rig the 6.3 so just went with the riged 7.0.  Pretty well powered up and lumpy as hell.  Nice to get out after a stinker of a day working on house.

Sandy Point in a blustery WSW-SW 25-37 knots .Super chopped up water .

Used the JP speed 50 Tribal SW 21 RSR E 5 5.4.

Big day at the office with a long wait before tide dropped low enough to get into the inlet.

Major problem for me was getting started in the super gusty hollow behind the sand dunes .

Expended so much energy /forearm reserves that most of the speed run was done in survival mode .

Sailed with Daffy who looked very comfortable /PJ & Lach (stepson )who made a cameo appearance & looked really good out there .

Will try again tomorrow -got to do better ...!!!Foot in mouth

Last minute dash to Sandy Point Vic after a friend's wedding inTassie .Brother Cal was good enough to collect me from the airport & make the 3 hr drive so I could have a crack at thisspot .

Step dad Cam had the Iso 80 Tribal Sw 23 RSS Mk 3 5m2 ( ist time ever used ) rigged for me so away I went .

Was blown away by the conditions-inlet was smoking for much of the time -sand swirling /wind rocketing in /water frothing .Epic fun & stoked with the speeds-PB for me I think ...!!!

The walk back was a killer today -20mins so bodyisbuzzing & knackered ...SealedMoney mouth

Happy !!

Awesome results Cam & Locky, congrats on the PB Locky sounds like the mad dash was well worth it Cool

Cam think you may have a case of Hardyitis if your grumbling about doing 40+ Wink Good news is that a side effect seems to be that you do 40+ nearly everytime you sail! I'm to slow to catch it Embarassed

Thanks Morts & must say -always happy to do a 40 -so much wind today that it became an efficiency issue .It felt like a lot more speed was possible ...

Lach confirmed that a 5m2 was a better choice given the gust strength .

Always learning at this place & great to see morePBs for you & Shane !!Gr8 job ...!!!

Great to see Cam and Locky going for it! CoolCool

You guys adapted to it very well. It is certinly not the easiest place to speed sail in conditions like that!

How close are those speeds! Unreal!! Surprised

I'm feeling very tired and sore Cam, but I will make a big effort to join you in the morning. Embarassed

Yanakie wind station. Looks pretty close to what we got although the gusts may have been a bit stronger. We sailed from about 4-30 to 7.30pm:

Thanks, Sandy Point is such a scary awesome place to sail. The dunes, gusty wind and chop at the start, the bearaway and incredible acceleration, trying to relax and be comfortable along the curving bank, the whooped de woos at the end, trying to stop without killing yourself, checking you speed before the long walk back to do it again and do better. Ah the memories

ThanksSav-missed this  one...Well said Slippery-a Pre Sandy Point cycling /gym regime definitely needed to get the most out of this place on the really windy days .I personally hate the walk back -would rather sail to the other side but that takes a big toll on forearm reserves & is not easy if you're using asyfins .The constantly changing dynamic of the place keeps it  challenging/interesting & addictive -cantwait to get back to try some new things /test myselfagainst the elements ...Foot in mouth
