No luck with the 1hr or distance today as the wind was just up and down to much.  Started a 1hr and 6 minutes in got becalmed.  Never-the-less, got to try my new (old 2004 model) 90L HyperCarve with Severne Reflex 5.6 and a custom US Box 30cm Venom.  The board was a little sluggish feeling compared with the iSonics, but once up and going it was very easy to sail, especially off-the-wind and allowed a 2-second of over 36 knots.  Defintely could have gone quicker if it had been windier.  The board never even felt like spinning out with the 30cm Venom and was flying at speed over the backs of small waves without feeling at all out of control - quite impressive for an old board matched with the latest sail and fin!!  When the wind dropped for an extended period decided to rig the 7.8 Reflex and try it on the HC90 and it still worked fine and rocketted upwind and off-the-wind.

Qute a few others out which was great.  Hopefully better winds tomorrow.

Well the local young guns decided it wasn't windy enough for them, so went home to twitter or facebook or play computer games or to start studying for next school term or whatever it is youngsters get up to these days, but Paul had driven from Launnie and I from Hobart, so we braved the light gusty conditions. I actually really enjoyed the session, when the gusts were happening.

Fanatic Freewave 95

KA Kaos 5.7

Hey Russ, for a dedicated wave sail that Kaos  felt pretty fast, it felt like it wanted more wind and I reckon it'll get over 30 knts easy. I just couldn't co-incide a good gust with the really flat section of the run.

Really enjoyed the dead flat water though, it's so enjoyable.

Come on guys, pick it up a little bit!Laughing I nearly destroyed myself today trying to get a good 1hr and distance so we can take out September.  Had the go slow gear on; JP Twinser Wave and Ezzy Wavesail.  Sailed out from West Point Marrawah, got a few waverides in at Back Of Lighthouse. It was incredibly messy, lumpy, big, etc. when out in the open ocean trying to get some distance in.  Sailed on my own for a few hours, kept thinking something was going to break, then bang spreader bar breaks 30 seconds after a huge Seal popped up next to me.Surprised  Good fun!!

Well done Kaleb and sorry not to back up your distance of just over 100km!!  That is an awesome effort!!!  Glad you're still alive having done all of that out in the waves at Marrah on a wave board - incredible!!!!  I think eveyone should honour your efforts today by doing over 100 kms in flat water tomorrow!!!!  Seriously, great effort.

Thanks Dave, I'm still trying to come to terms with your speed at Dorans yesterday, awesome!  I think I might need to save up for some 'go fast' gear.  I nearly choked on my chocolate bar when I saw Russ has actually managed to post some results. Good stuff Russ! You've only owned your GPS for what, 10 years? he he

Hey Kaleb, I've got a near new 5.6 speed sail going VERY cheap - should fit your existing mast and boom!!  Partner that with Izaak's board and you would have a very good bit of kit to combat just about all speed sailing conditions from 15-40 knots!!
