Great sail today on the esturary good to have wind and water.Nice and powered up on 7.0.

I might have to consider early retirement so I can enjoy more midday sessions like this!

Christchurch Estuary. ..Unexpected morning sail that I was very glad of, and turned out to be in great conditions, ..although I really wish I'd had time to go home and get my 80 litre board and 6.2 Overdrive - as I was a bit uncomfortable with my 7.0 and 69 wide board. ..Was a bit compromised timewise because I'd promised to deliver my son to a wedding.

Christchurch Estuary, Nice powered up session until I broke my leg/ankle.

I was heading upwind into the river mouth for 2nd time and hopped off for a look at water depth and bang.

It was interesting getting ashore and I was wondering how I was going to get home when I saw Rob Dinks and got his attention.

He sure saved my bacon and got an ambo. Big thanks Rob.

I reckon he was happy to be the rescuer for a change.

Ambo had to come in through the top track from Bridge St to find me.

2 1/2 hours later I got to hospital.

Broken my fib and tib and dislocated the ankle joint.

Nice session up until then. SL68, NCX 6.5, Iwi SL2 37fin

What a great organisation is StJohns. A shame they still have to go begging.

Very sorry to hear about your substantial injuries Mike, that must have been a very unpleasant experience. Troubling that such a thing can happen windsurfing. Wondered why I hadn't seen you sailing. Hope you will recover to sail again. Wish you the best luck with that.

..

Thanks Maree
