Sailpilot,

You're a long way from MackayWink

Good work on the PB's.  Am looking forward to sailing Burrum in March '09.

Cheers Sausage, yep its a very worthwhile 8 hour drive to spend an hour in flat stuff. Is there any flat wter near you? I've sailed from the Yeppoon  SC plenty of times but it seems to be more bump n jump when its windy. Lookslike I'll have to pull myfinger out and race you to the 30 mark, seems I'm stuck at 27...bugger.

Flat water???? what's that.....

I reckon the Causeway lake offers about 250meters before the wind is buffered or you hit the rocks depending on which tack you're sailing.  Sailed there once and swore I'd never go back so instead sail off Lammermoor beach or main beach in the "waves" (large washing machine chop)  Sometimes you can bear off and try to pick a run between swells out wide but inevitably end up hitting some severe chop and mostly  spinning out or holding on for grim death.

Sailed at Burrum at the beginning of this year at comp and thought I was in heaven - that is until I clipped a sand bar and went over the handlebars busting the head off my boom.

If you're ever in Yeppoon or going down to Burrum and need a very annoying passenger give us a cooee.
