iS122, CRed 8.8, 460 Drake Sl Pro Wind E 12-15kn

After yesterdays great sail where my GT-11 got water logged (damn hole in Paqua) and failed to record anything I was surprised my repairs actually fixed it.  Light easterly wind today so I thought I'd give my quads a work out and sailed 10km up to Capricorn International resort.  Apart from my little toe on back foot killing, it didn't feel too bad.  Wind dropped out towards satrt of second hour and had to slog back in right at the death.

Wello with some of the other mobbers. Finally got an enjoyable sail and I will be sore tomorrow. Tried for the hour, but the wind dropped down so I was only dredging for a while, enough to ruin my pb attempt. Simon Tribe gave me some tips on gybing and I was almost making them plane through but I still always flip the sail too flaming late and don't step forward enough. Still I thought I was doing pretty well until Richard came out and started using me as a gybing marker. He certainly came planing through them. Falcon 111, Nash Stealth 7.5, and a Silver Select fin 40. And a good day was had by allTongue out

Hi Sausage

to ensure my GT11 stays dry I use zip lock snack bags as a back up inside my aquapack. Tested it a three of times a few months back when I twice did not do up my aquapack and once I holed the aquapack: it works a treat. While a waterproof and correctly sealed Pacqua/aquapack is best I will no go without the back up of the snack bag nowEmbarassed

glad to see you managed to resurect it after it got wet.

Evets,

After taking it apart it became apparent that one of the screw holes (at the rear of the toggle switch) was letting moisture get in - the casing mould at screw housing was broken (manufacturing fault no doubt as I'd never taken the thing apart before) so the rubber wasn't sealing properly.  The electronics board had long term signs of corrosion around this entry point.  Next GPS I'll fill screw holes with silicone as an extra measure and take your advice with the zip lock bags.  I'm really surprised it still works as when I was tentatively scrapping the corrosion off the board I think a small black chip (1mm x 2mm) came away.  Must have just been there for looksUndecided

PS - does anyone know what the very small chip (if there is one) on top righthand side corner is for?
