Happy new year! High tide on the Lake and lots of sailors out.

Chased Jaques around and had a few laughs at some of our spills.

Well, Well , Well, what a day it turned out to be, very successful indeed, stoked! Got down the lake and it was looking really nice so rigged the 5.8, pretty overpowered but made up to the speed run, did about a dozen runs down there and was maxing out at 36kts and just couldn't get locked and comfortable, so went and rigged 5.2, the wind did drop a little but was still a lot better of in the end, need more days like that on the water.LaughingSmile

I do not need to report my speeds-> I have a couple of team mates that will keep everybody on their toesCool. Massive effort boys!!!!!!!!!

Big schooling session for me though. I sacrificed a good wind afternoon to learn how to windsurf. I am determined to go fast on the old Tommen and today was a good start. At the begining was like riding a bucking horse but with a few hints from Red I got it going (thanks again Red!Smile). I need more fine tunning before I can accelerate but lack of talent can only be replaced with hard work. I just hope to have more chance of sailing this year.

When Red and Jacques decided that was enough for the day, I went for a few fun runs on the Hyper. Wind was right, rig was fine, body was dead. Could not push hard at all.

Then the long pilgrimage home. I'm going to sleep well.

Should have stayed out and had a few more runs during that windy spell. Needed more consistent runs.

Well done Marcus - Just keep persisting with the board. It's alll to easy to go back to the "easy"option but the Thommen will be a rocket ship when you get it right.

PS and well done for not breaking anything!

Geoff,

Marcus, Frant and Ant were out yesterday. Ant has got himself a GT-31 and has caught the bug. Hopefully a positive year!

As you can see the fastest runs were done over the sandbars on the southern end. Scary stuff - Only possible due to the high tide and even then doing speed over the weed clumps was terrifying!

How is your memory? I recon that a 37+ peak must be, or must be very close to an all time recored for the lake.

Red, We need to check on the pluses. Tony did some 37s early last year and by memory he said that was his best mark at the lake. If not the best, you must be less a few of 10ths of a knot under the Tonster. Great effort!

My plan is to do a speed run inside the weed beds in front of my place. I am planning on anchoring a length of floating rope to leeward of the bed to hold any loose weed from drifting onto the speed run. The run from Geoffs rock to the east of my place where it starts to get seriously shallow <200mm is about 300metres. Will need a high tide and a howling SWesterly. and Red on standby in a professional capacity.

There have been a few head first impalings into the mud. It is surprising how far in you go, although I stood a crowbar in the bottom once while extracting some of the death star pickets. It just starting sinking and would have disappeared under its own weight in about 30 seconds.

Bugger that Frant if its on I'm not standing by for anything - every man for himself- but i'll pack a few extra bandages and NO WAY am I doing mouth to mouth on your ugly mugs!
