Time to wash the gear!!!

LOCATION:  LYSTERFIELD

SAILORS:  MOONDO

CONDITIONS:  N- 12-15 GUSTING TO 20 WITH SQUALLS 20 PLUS.  WIND SHIFTING NE to NW

GEAR:  JP Excite 160, 52 cm fin down to Jp Excite 135, 42 cm fin

NP Excess 6.9

Short session at Lysterfield.  Gusty and patchy wind reminded me again how lucky we are to have locations like Inverloch and area 45- where the wind blows consistantly and from the same direction.

Anyway, it was a bit of fun...the short runs make for a different type of sailing.  You tend to have to sheet in hard as soon as you waterstart to get that "shoot out of a cannon effect".  If you waited too long to get settled before you put the accelerator down, you ran out of room at the other end.

In typical Lysterfield fashion, I took off on a huge gust at the end of the day which was easily 20 kts.....it built to 25kts for about a second then dropped to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!.  Not even enough wind to waterstart so I sat out in the middle of the lake for about 15 minutes waiting for some wind....any wind!.  Finally got a little puff which was enough to get back to shore.
