5911 days ago Day 2 of Sandy point trip. Tired from yesterday's broad conditions and a crap nights sleep. We stayed at the local backpackers and the roof rattled all night in the gales. Woke up to WSW and steady winds. Got down to the pit around 11.30 to good direction and wind but high water. Rigged the same as yesterday and felt a lot more settled. 1st run down the course a 37.8 on the dial so feeling that today was going to be a good day. Next few runs had no control and got stood up in the gusts and lost a lot of confidence. Switched down a 4.4 and got a few more runs to get confidence back. All the time Jacques was flying on his slalom board.
Feeling more confident switched back to the 5.0 and settled into the afternoon and started getting more consistent runs. Buy this stage my arms were spent and even had a good stack at the end of the run because I just couldn't hang on any more trying to pull up.
Happy with the results and had a great learning experience..

BIG EFFORT from Jacques doing his peak on a 90lt slalom board and a weed fin!!! Not bad for a bloke who been sailing less than a year!!! AND he's got a F2 missile coming!!!

5911 days ago Rolled up to the pit in the morning and it was looking good!! with only one goal in mind, 40 knots. having peaked out yesterday .4 off i figured it couldn't be hard to find .4!! how wrong i was. First run off the morning was a 39.6, exactly the same as the day before, so i was pumped knowing it was coming, but it wasn't, 4 more runs just over 39, and a few more around 37, this was not looking good, and i was starting to think that maybe i had found this boards max speed and i would have to settle for 39's. Went back had a drink and something to eat (pete's speed muffins), and remembered Tony W said to me "if you want to go fast rig big!". So i thought bugger it its only water how much can it hurt!!? and rigged my 5.8. First run a little heisty and not quite comfy, but it was a 39.98, i couldn't believe it, i thought are you serious, i couldn't get back to the top of the run fast enough, the only problem was sail size, it made it fun!, next run, 39.84, back again and waited for a little rain squall, and left, it felt good, gust after gust pushed me down, to a radical dismount at the end only to see 41.57, Thank God i finally did it!! and i think it makes it a bit better cos it was achieved on a 90 ltr slalom board and weedy. All i can say is bring on my missile. How good is this sport and the PiT
Thanks Red for posting my results, and well done yourself, 40 won't be long.
