Great morning sailing along the Attadale foreshore with Recycle. Saw Brabo up the melville end otherwise we had the place to ourselves.

Majestic Point, WA, iS122, XF100

Miss judged it a bit and went out with a 6.4 + 100L. Ended up on 7.8 + 122 which was pretty comfy. I think Pointman and Damo were struggling a bit but Troutty and Rowan were going well.

Hard to believe this is the middle of winter - bright blue sky, 19 deg, reasonably steady breeze. Life's good.

Majestic Point, WA, AU

Cruisy sesh at Majestic on a sketchy Easterly.

Started out on the 7.6 TR7 + F111, which turned out to be a hopelessly optimistic combo.  Got my peak speed on my first run off the beach, but struggled for the next 45 minutes after that. Pulled out the fat boy kit and rigged the 135 XFire + 8.5 Koncept + 48 Talon.

A couple of runs on that combo was enough to turn the frown upside down Cool

Sailed for another hour and scored a few nice runs, but still stuggled to get planing at times.

So all in all pretty average sesh, but it was a beautiful day to be out on the water. Smile

Point Walter, WA, AU 85 Sonic, 6.4 Koncept, 32 Vector 16kn NE

A very pleasant cruisy sail on what almost felt like a summer's day. I have my sea legs back after the winter layoff, the combo felt really good and well balanced, and life was wonderful (I even had a whoo hoo moment)  until the pin on my uni joint snapped. Thank God I didn't go to Majestics today. As luck would have it the uni snapped in waist deep water so all I had was a long wade home dragging rig and board.

Really happy with the nm, a second best for me. Pity the wind dropped off after that run. I should have ventured out earlier but I was waiting for the air temp to warm up!

Majestic Point, WA, AU

F2 SX Large,8.3 C.R.,46cm Talon

Got down there to find Pointman,Macka Packa and Troutty sailing, rigged the 7.5 and then listened to Pointman (wise advice) who was rigging his 8.5 so changed up to 8.3 before hitting the water.

Was planing most of the time except when I decided "One more run"which I got stuck over @ Nedlands Yacht Club and floated back to Majestic.

No excuse for stupidity, should have taken the hint when all the boys had got off the water Yell

Got going too late, midday, it was all over, apart from a few half-assed gusts.

Next time I'll know that when I see Mark pack up the wind has really gone.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Rigged the 7 as it looked a bit light, got planing a couple of times on the way across then entered the biggest wind shadow in the history of the swan river... spent a good ten minutes trying to uphaul while the picnicers on the shore and a moored boat looked on.

Eventually swam the lot out a bit, away from the shore to get enough wind to uphaul, then it was plain sailing back again.

Still, nice warm air temp, sunny day, roll on summer!

Good to chat to Nauli and Hooksey on the beach as well Laughing

Point Walter, got there too late (as JJ says if Marks packing up its over.

Light wind combo isonic 120 and koncept 7.3

planing some of the time, by the end couldnt uphaul any more. Good exercise, lovely sunny afternon and the river was beautiful, until the parade of motor boats turned it into a roller coaster. But good to get some time on the water and some practice with the new board, have to unlearn some small board habits to use it properly.

Nice numbers Mark.

You definitely got the best breeze earlier in the day.  Unfortunately I had kids sporting commitments this morning, which delayed my water time Undecided

Pointman, what size mast does the 8.5 rig on?

Mike it rigs on a 490, are you in the market for an 8.5? Wink

I'm thinking of picking up an 8.4 TR7 (rigs on a 460), so I might be unloading the 8.5 + mast.

Bugger about the UJ, windxtasy. I am using the chinook ones which have a single cast piece for the top and pin.

Glad the rest of you got an outing.

Pointman, I am looking for something that rigs on a 4.60. I have a Severn 8.2 on an old NP 30% 490. It works, but is bloody heavy. old sail with twin cams, no rollers, just slides on the mast. Does the job sort of.

Glad to see all you guys get out. Got stuck with work....againYell  Two 150t's haul trucks going to Koolan Island, one wanted to stay in the shopCry

Just for you Windxtasy

I use the QR chinook bases but never unclip them, just unscrew from the board when I want to take it out. Never had it come apart (yet).

Great stuff guys. I'm full of envy.

A batten on my 6.8 went through into the luff pocket so I'm out until repair some gear, or get some new one.
It seems that 6.8m wouldn't have worked anyway. Maybe I taek my 5.2m for a ride tomorrow at Pinnaroo's.

Just had a look at Pepe's Go pro vid of a couple of gybes. Well worth a look for the aspiring gyber.

Good points

Front hand palm down and back to front harness line

Sheets in and extends front arm

Rocks mast across to outside of turn and slides front hand to mast.

Lets rig flip (should try and reach under old front hand) and away!Cool

Thanks Jeff.

It was just so nice not to be 10 knots slower than everyone else for once.
