Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Went to Holloways for a look see.    Gaz's car was there but no Gaz. Waited around for 15 minutes, checked the horizon but still

no Gaz.   Set up and went for sail for about 1.5 hours and when I came back ....there was Gaz....Sailed over to Green!!!

You'll have to check he posting out.

Good sail on JP126 and Loft O2 6.6

Kermit, 7.5 Koncept, Talon 44, Holloways beach, Arlington reef, Green Island.

The best days sailing I have had for a long time. Wind was the right direction this morning and no one else was at the beach so decided to sail out to the reef. Took about five K's before I could stay on the plane but from then on it was pretty good. Headed straight to Arlington hoping to go for a NM but the wind was way to light so went over to Green for a couple of runs before the tide dropped to far. Grabbed Cam's Exocet 50 with the Delta 25 for three runs (very nice Cam) then back onto Kermit to cruise back to Holloways. Had a bit of trouble getting the last couple of K's back to the beach as the wind went to the east and got real patchy.

Finaly happy with the old 7.5 Koncept. Less downhaul and the sail works like it shouldCool.

Gaz,

I think I'm special when I sail over to Keppel and back but that is one very impressive track and session.  You didn't happen to run into Alby Mangels, Kontiki or Captain Cook on your travels Wink.  Man I would have loved to have done it with you too although with that 35km first leg I would have had to cut my little toe off as it would have been very dead by the end.  You can really see why Cairns' wind is so shitty compared to GI considering those two great big headlands are effectively where the Great Dividing Range meets the Pacific Ocean.

PS - Good to hear you've got the 7.5 working sweetly - what's the downhaul, 478 - 480??

PPS - Itching for a sail as spent last week in Fiji without gear although only had one good wind day and the remainder was very calm apart from having to deal with 9 kids Undecided.

Hey Snags - we all think your special too!! Must have been busy, last time we caught up you only had four kids.

I'm running 477 luff on the 7.5, anymore just kills the sail. Haven't had enough wind to really get it powered up for a while but I don't think I would go more than 478 max. Yesterday was the first time I have had it over 30 without trying and it was very underpowered at the time.

Firie - tried to get Freddy to go back out for a 20 knot hour but all he wanted to do was talk. Think he's been hanging around you for to long.

Awesome cruise Gaz,makes my planning a trip to Fraser a bit insignificant in comparison, might have to consider going to Lady Elliott

or Musgrave now.

Nilss - qld's good but I'll be going back to the territory in the next week. I've already forgotten what it's like to sail powered up. Last time the 5.7 came out was at Barmera in March, almost all 7.5 weather for us but still nice.

Great stuff Gaz, is your 7.5 a 2007, they printed the wrong luff length on the sail and bag around 480 is the go. I use mine on a Pryde x6 and it sets real good, has a lot of twist in the top. I can't believe Freddy wanted to talk alot lol

Knut - they must have screwed up the 2008 ones as well as they had 487 printed on them when in fact it was meant to be 481.  Nice sail none the less although too much monofilm for my liking.

Hoppy - I  stay just far enough ahead of Freddy so I can't hear himWink.

Knut - It's a 2008 but the luff length is still printed wrong. I was rigging at 480 but the sail felt awful, no bottom or top end. I've ended up at 477 and it is nice. I had a 2009 before this one which was awesome but it got trashed on the reef and as I won't be sailing much in the next year I just got Snags old one to fill in for a couple of months. I did try the 2009 on an X6 but it wasn't as good as the Carbontech I normally use.
