How's the estuary going for sailable water? Much less than before?

The bottom has lifted mostly in the SW corner down by the East Coast shop and there is the odd sand volcanoe here and there to avoid in other places but its ok to sail.

It seems to fill more slowly now ( I guess the opening has blocked up a bit) and there is a bit less sailing time between tides.

The water is very clear and we can see the bottom as never before.

Perhaps this is because there has been so much pipe repair work going on in the past year and maybe they've got all the stuff thats been leaking (into the estuary) for decades. 

All subject to change though as we are still getting plenty of quakes (5.1 this morning) and 10 small ones since then.

I just saw a billboard in town saying "Buy one quake and get the next 14017 for free" so I guess that's how many we've had since Sept 2010

Well I'm glad the estuary is cleaner than ever. I presume I'll be giving it a thorough workout.

My GF (who is a Kiwi and who has been in Chch for the last six months) seems very relaxed about the ongoing aftershocks. Being an sensitive Australian, I am not so sure...
