BreakWater to beacon Race - First year entering the race. I had some major issues with heading upwind towards the marker. Bondy, I hope you don't mind, I overlay my track with yours (faint track lines being your route). As can be seen I went past the marker but a good 300 metres or more downwind. Came in a bit down from Green Point and walked back to starting point. Worst ever walk of shame for me. Apart from that, I really enjoyed the race. It's amazing how quick it went. I probably should have tried tacking upwind somewhat but really, no many others seem to be having any trouble reaching the marker. Bring on next year!

Just made it in time today for the start of the Breakwater to Beacon race.

It took a little while to get planing on the way out, then it became a battle to keep on the plane and still head upwind enough to make the marker.

I followed Seb on his bright yellow techno straight to it. He made his jibe and I stuffed mine up. Steve went by me on his RS1 while I was frolicking in the drink. Took me a while to get going again as the sail was on the wrong side and water starting with a 7.5 cammed sail in light wind is a bit of a pain.

The run in was good though. The wind had picked up and we were sailing off the wind, which made you have to concentrate.

Had a few runs afterwards just for fun, but they would've been more fun on the 95lt FSW with a 6.5 as it had come in nicely.

Overall, a fun arvo with a few sausages and beers to keep the weight on.Tongue out

(Evan, how do you save your tracks on the google earth overlay as a picture?)

Breakwater to beacon. Great fun. Used the barge so managed to stay upwind even on the lightwind leg out. Nice wind on the leg back but my legs were really tiered the last 1-2ks. Still came in 8th so very happy :). Track below.

No worries Evan.

Your top speed was ok and so was your NM.

How did you get my tracks up?

I'll try and upload my session soon.

Hi Bondy. I just opened your track from KA72.com into google maps (there's a link from your uploaded data on KA72) and did a print screen and loaded into Photoshop. I put mine on top of yours to compare with someone and to see how far off I was. Smile

Evan, the Breakwater to Green Point race is next month :). Sorry couldn't resist.

Does anybody know how to produce tracks with different colours based on speed???

Bondy - use the print screen key on your keyboard when viewing your track in google earth. Then open your preferred paint/photo program, eg. Photoshop , etc. then use paste command to paste image into your paint/photo program.

Looked like a fun day, would have loved to be there, but family duties (BBQ at our place) came first. Well next time.
