wicked day at clearwater with Mike and Dan. The wind meter was getting hit by 40kt gusts so I rigged the small setup. I brought 2 boards and 2 sails with me. 6.2m and the Mistral 91 slalom board, with a 26 fin is the small setup . Felt pretty lit in the gusts. Got my PB for this board and clearwater. Stoked. A bit quicker than my last trip here where I was on a speed board and 5.0m. The run is a peaky affair with bullets and lulls with not much in between. While we were sailing the wind meter hit 45.2kts. No wonder I was a bit overpowered at times. The sail felt it too and I blew out a panel in the head. Went in for some lunch and the wind backed off a bit by the time we got back to the water so I went out on the 7.8m for a few runs. Got one nice gust for a 38.9kt max, and NM was on the way back on this sail, with 2 gybes. Looks like its going to be windy for a few days but I'll be off doing tourist stuff until the nationals next week. Great trip so far. Thanks for the hospitality Mike! Well done Dan on the PBS.
