Shoalwater WA

Early session turned out to be a fizzer, constant rain killed most of the wind. Mostly 12-15 knots, a couple of 18 knot gusts.

Nice place to sail, good turnout - Lao, Terry, Craig, Simon and a few locals.

Winter! I am over it!

My rigging jacket's pockets are waterproof. I know this as they filled up with water while I was standing around in the rain waiting for some wind.

Only decent run was the first off the beach.

I think i have upset the Karma gods, if there is such a thing. There should have been decent wind this morning - nope. It pretty much rained the whole time, and i clumsily dropped my GPS and now it wont aquire a signal. Bring it on Karma gods throw another one at meYell

Luckily for me Mr Lao shi loaned me a spare but hmmm it may be dodgy too with that 2 sec peakWink Thanks Mark and by the way i just became a member (you know what i mean) Come to think of it with the abundance of seaweed stuck between my teeth and the ordinary speeds it was probably my sulking lower lip pouting and hitting the water while thinking about my tragic loss of my GPS.

Cheers for the contact Terry, ive messaged them to see if they still have some left.

Ahh well winter sailing is done with i guess

Melville Beach, WA, Patrik 155, Turbo 7.5, CL2 48

Arrived to find GS packing up, wind switched off a bit so went for the biggest I had. Filled in enough to get a few planing runs. Then I started hearing a nasty crealing sound. Stopped to check boom and fin but nothing stuck out. Next run my beautiful CLockwood carbon fin snapped at the base Yell

After a 20 min swim and a jog back to the carpark I found raygun had been keeping an eye on me - thanks mate!

First sail for ages, great to get out.

Patrick! Good to hear from you. I was thinking of you just yesterday because you hadn't sailed/posted in such a long time (which is very unusual for you) and I was planning to contact you to see if everything was OK or if you were just hibernating. Just hibernating, I hope.

Mark, that month of European summer has softened you up!

Craig, sorry to hear about the GPS. I hope Locosys can fix it. If you need another I know Windforce had one for sale last time I was in there.

Where was I? I had another appointment which I had moved from Thursday morning because that was when it was meant to be windy!

Hi Patrick, is that one you had rebased into a power box? I remember hearing of the torture getting your fins converted. The production layup was designed for deep tuttle- we havent had any problems with this. Power box puts much greater demand on the base of the blade- especially in longer sizes. Sorry you had a swim :(
