Leighton Beach, WA

Fun session with Norts - 15 knots with a few 20 knot gusts at about 5.

Borrowed Nort's gear and went a couple of knots faster (2 sec and NM) - don't you hate that!

Novara Beach, WA, AU - IS101, CR6.5, Delta 24.  Ohhhh soooo smoooth!  Gybes were almost easy!  Thanks Anita and the rest for pointing out the place.

Novara Beach, WA, AU 6.4K M91 23 Pepeweed 15 knots

I have been having trouble with proximity of alphas so I thought I'd check out alphaland today. There wasn't much wind and it was hard to get going after the gybes, and very hard to get the proximity, so VERY surprised I managed a PB! My technique did improve as I went along, but this gybe was my third one. Looking at the realspeed graph you can see the wind & my speeds really dropped off after that.

I might have to try alphaland again! I think a lot of the rock garden markers have gone though. It was hard to work out which side of the remaining two we should sail on.

Good to catch up with GS, Birdman, AC1, Bono, Paz and Leon who had his first sail with a GPS today.

Novara Beach, WA, AU

Rocket 125, 7.0 Overdrive, 23 delta.

My first time at alphaland, the wind was very light and never came in as forecast but a fun sail never-the-less

Session 1 Alphaland Novara AU 2 Sec 28.17, 5x2 24.46, Alpha 18.31, Nm 18.07, Km 9.05

Mistral Explosion 103 litre, NP RSS 7.0m2, 22cm Maui weedie

First sail at Alphaland.  Not my cup of tea. Not a place for guesswork either.  Great to meet AC1 for the first time, and to catch up with the other Pinnaroo blowins Anita, Leon, Goh.

Session 2, Coodanup, WA, AU 2 Sec 26.49, 5x2 24.24, Alpha 19.64, Nm 23.13, Km 18.07

Mistral Explosion 103 litre, NP RSS 7.0m2, 22cm Maui weedie

Ah now that's better.  Groove in the smooth, and relatively rock free.  Great to catch up with Hardie, Decrepit and the Fangster doing their thing.  The breeze was starting to die out and by the end of the session I was only just able to get up on the plane, so nothing exciting happening in the alpha space today.

Fun power gybing session at the local after the W word.

Not many out for a fair late season breeze.

Well done on the Alpha Anita! Cool

Thats a great effort for a big sail in light wind and looking at your top speeds. It must have been a very nice Gybe indeed!

Thanks everyone. I would like to say my sudden rash of 17 knot alphas was due to an improvement in technique but I have to admit it coincides with the aquisition of the mistral 91 (Chris Lockwood's superceded board - he trained it well!). That board gybes so nicely. It is a pity I had to wait so long for one!

Oops a bit late -Embarassed - Congrats Anita on another PB! ( just a small pointer for future posts - when you have a rubbish day, its all down to your gear, but when you post PB's, it all down to your own awesome - kit doesn't get a mention :-)

Birdman - can you please pm me on SB (fangman) so we can get your fin size sorted and hopefully in the country by the time the big day rolls around:-)

Fangy - copying your style might have helped as well...

Congrats Anita, that's an indication of what you can do with more wind.

Obviously Tom's markers are still in place, he must have done a very good job with them indeed. Most markers I've put in are lucky to last a year.

Thanks Mike. Yes the gybe marks are still there. I think only two of the rock garden marks are still there, which makes it difficult to work out where it is safe to sail!
