Decrepit (54506km):
2805 days ago arived at Nairns to about 12kts, about SSE so rigged the 7.0 to test how my mods/repair to the 21cm 55d fin worked. plugged both of these into the 65cm board. As we were rigging a black cloud was heading our way, by the time I hit the water it was overhead and wind had picked up way over the way I'd set up the 7.0.
More outhaul, shift mast track forward, generally stuff around, to get more comfortable, but then of course the cloud was gone and the wind with it. let downhaul out again. But still had trouble with mast position. Had mast extender too long, so couldn't get the boom low enough without having the track further forward than I really wanted. Wind gradually built up again, and had some nice long runs, this wind direction is great here, running parallel with the shore.
Surprised at the depth, it was much shallower than it looked. I was touching the bottom on the other side of the markers, we had to stay out a fair way, to keep fin clearance.
No real smoooth, but not a huge amount of chop either.

2803 days ago EDIT, sorry Fangy, later is now!
After all the controversy about illegal posting, I can't let this stay up any longer.

Edit II Thanks Mike, I have to admit, I forgot. My bad, sorry :-(
Fangy's with Cap'n Calm. It's always good not to be a Pinnaroo, but today even more so. I forgot my GPS and I am pretty sure if you are a Pinnaroo the penalty is you get spayed. It's the first time I have forgotten my GPS, so I am confident it was just the Capn's forgentia rubbing off on me. However, all was not lost, as happily, I had remembered my phone. The above numbers are off my phone, so I will delete them later.
The rivers are now flowing well and the water is quite fresh and the colour of tea. The poor visibility suggests it is quite a strong black tea. The water wasn't particularly cloudy, just strongly tanin stained. The result was you could not see the bottom, even in really shallow water. This compunded our efforts to dent the estuary floor. Out on the 'run' I was occasionally clipping the bottom even when planing. I am not sure whether i was sitting lower in the water because it was fresh rather than the normal saline, or simply a winters worth of carbo loading was making its presence felt. The Capn repoted that he too had noticed the same lack of depth, so maybe there has been some silt build up or it was a lower tide than the waters edge suggested.
In any case there was the usual winter fare of inconsistency, but when it did blow, it was a really pleasant little stroll back and forth on the party barge. I tried out my assy Delta 23 and my initial feeling was that the greater foil made a noticeable difference to the lift. I will be keen to compare my tracks with the Cap'n's to see how I really fared.
Whatever the result, the sun was out a fair bit and I had a beaut little sail, easily a Top Ten fangy Day :-)
