I have always been told pack clean underwear and take spare rope with you, well a bit of spare rope would have been very handy after breaking the boom head bit just when I was making last gybe up to the top of the mangroves…..  Bit of a mission back down after dodgy repairs,. c’est la vie next time.

With very high tide at 3.00pm, I thought I'd try Wynnum and work up to Lytton in search for some flatish water. Great in theory, but it didn't work in practice. The high tide mean't that the wind driven chop was bouncing off the foreshore seawall. The resultant confused chop was complete rubbish. The water was better up towards the mangroves, but the ribbon weed made sailing miserable. I gave up after 40 minutes or so, came in and changed onto bump and jump gear. Much more fun. Chris tried the same but was hampered with gear failure. It's good to sail Wynnum once a year because it reinforces why we sail Wello.

High tide sesh on the wave gear. Tried out the new Severne Dyno 95 for the first time. Nice floaty board and great fun in the small waves of Hervey Bay. Just enough wind for the 6.5 Ezzy Cheetah later in the day. Thruster fin setup gave me an extra hour of sailing in the shallow water as the tide receded.
