Leighton Beach, WA, AU

Light winds today but great to get my Tabou Rocket back after 8 months, getting used to foot position after sailing the trusty Tiga for so long but the rocket is a sweet board, handles the chop like a dream. Picking up another new toy on Monday the less tame Manta 61 looking forward to testing this little beauty as well.

Melville Beach, WA, AU it's seems like a lifetime since the last sail, but it was good to get out even if the conditions didn't quite playball. Good to see the captain safari, Ricey, Ben, meet Rob and all other usual suspects hanging/drifting/flying at Melvilicious. after gathering cobwebs for 6 months the first sail on the new Evo 9 7.8m told me greater things were coming. Rotation is a big leap forward on the E5.  Under boarded for the todays conditions, but the sail felt powerfull and yes it's very PINK. I get it!

Another good session with JJ, Boz and John. Wind was a comfortable 18 knots when we got out. Went way downwind and the wind dropped to 15 knots. barely planing on the way back upwind until the wind picked up when I got closer to base. JJ was out enjoying the foil.

Boz, good to see Reg finally came through with the Rocket. How long did it take? Laughing

Leighton Beach, WA

4th foil session - sweet 15 to 18 knot breeze - with Norts, Nick and Ken.

No pumping needed today. Foiling at half-height upwind kissing the wave tops is awesome fun.

Had a nice race with a flying fish - a kindred spirit Laughing

Ken was doing nice long naughty runs, Nick looked happy with his new board Cool

Melville beach WA  iS111 33 Tribal weedy, 7.5 T415 knots

Despite losing my hat on the first run, and hitting a rock on my last run resulting in a big chunk out of my fin, that was the best session I have had in months, with lots of whoo hoo moments.

The air and water were warm, the sun was lovely, the turns were going nicely and I just felt like going and going. 75 turns in an hour and a half. 50% tacks and 50% gybes. I think I dropped 3 or 4 tacks and no gybes, although a couple were a bit wobbly. My tacking has improved heaps after all that light wind practice in Mauritius, and my gybing was better too. I felt like I couldn't fall off a gybe today. I am not stalling as much in the middle of the gybe, and I feel like I made a breakthrough today, so watch this space.

It was good to catch up with Tim, Rob and Ben, and many other Melville regulars. Ben was zooming all over the place and was making the most of the light wind conditions.

Nice warm day with a mild sea breeze. Good to see our captain is back from holidays and a few more familiar faces, Tim and Ricey were there to make the most of it. Plenty of stink boats to play with but rarely did the wind play ball when the boats came through.

Foilville

Have been getting a bit excited the last few days watching the rsx convertible world championships unfold, and quite keen to do some foiling coarse racing

so thought today would be a lovely day to get out and do some practice

only packed the big wing and 7.7 to force myself to rig big

and it was actually quite good, very powered up but pretty much spot on to go upwind and downwind as fast as possible, learnt a bit and getting a better idea of how to squeeze extra little bits of performance from the gear on a coarse

got some great jibe practice with the big kit again and amazingly I am getting more consistent with being able to pull off the fully foiling jibes and actually feeling like I have good control all the way through them, a long way to go to start making them faster though

was good to have 4 moths out on the water to train with and tune with

feeling absolutely spent now

7.7 North Warp, 135 JP HF, NP F4 foil with the big wing
