Dakhla, Western Sahara. 

Day of dramas with best of plans ruined in the first 5mins on discovering the disaster zone  that is the windsurf hire shop at the Attitude Dakhla .Staff were quite non plussed "this is a kiting destination".

To Avoid this I had sent numerous emails confirming the current equipment list which supposedly included tabou rockets /gaastra free race sails .Spent 700 purchasing power box fins  to find none of this list meant a thing-the gear was either completely trashed or didnt exist .AGGHHRRRR

Finally contacted the another resort 1/2  hr walk away & managed to hire a 7 yr old Fanatic Ray 100l 34 choco freerace fin & 6.2 North E type & took off for the Speed Run -this was banned by the way ...!!!

Ended up having a  ball .

Dakhla is Magic/has huge potential for speed sailing but the kiters own this place -counted 185 on the water after I finished my massive downwinder to the Speed Strip & return run to the Vagabond Hire operation.

The backdrop is stunning ,the water is cool & clear & the temperature is a balmy 21-23 oC.No flies/mosquitoes in sight .

You have to be on the lookout however for the local fishing nets -clipped these 3 times today -once at speed ...

30 hrs to get here takes the shine off things somewhat .

Will have another try tomorrow .
