Wednesday 27th June – windsurf **** The Dip, Felixstowe

F2 Xantos 295 with Tushingham Lightning 7.8

F2 Ride 282 with Tushingham Lightning 6.5

25.71 knot max., 24.18 knot ave., 14.58 knot hour, 20.43 knot mile, 67.80 km., 12.66 knot alpha :(

The breeze was supposed to increase as the day went on and with a midday high tide I was in no hurry to get down to The Dip, so had a nice morning at home doing exercises in the garden, a trip up town and then a great WhatsApp video chat with our son Rob with Grandson Arlo. Then after a yummy chicken salad Mag and I head to the beach, Michael Galbraith is already out with 6.2 but he is a lightweight so Mark Smalling and I both rig 7.8 as Mag walks home. I put both the 282 and 295 on the beach but go with the bigger board and have a non-stop hour and a half but the sea is still a bit of a lumpy mess but will improve as the tide drops! Mark only had a few runs when his boom broke:( He replaced it and was soon out again. I beat up to kite beach where the water was slightly smoother then sailed broad back but the further you went out the bigger the sea caught but really confused chop. I then rigged the 6.5 to give it a try but was under so returned to the big kit which was not right and going fast was difficult. With winds increasing I tried the small kit again which was a lot better now and I managed my fastest run just as my metal harness hook broke:( Still I had been out over three hours covering 67 km and the sea was a lot better with the tide low. We had been joined by Ed Swain, David Coles, Nick Icke, Peter Edmunds and Mark Swain who were all enjoying the sunshine and it is supposed to blow for another 5 days so will be completely knackered!!!!
