Lyds (10267km): Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU Evo foil, 7.0 pretty nice start then got bombarded with sail boats of all types and sizes. Foiled down to Coalie said Hi to Greg and Andy, Muz came down later looking good.
GeoffS (7860km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Fanatic Sup Sailworks 5.2
Mick Saunders (11686km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU NE 10 -15 in the best gusts and good fun at last having our start boat run out the mark bouys to race around. Formula 159 SS 84 wing maui TR 7 5.9
Tibor (17557km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU How good was that!!! At last they didn't lie (as much) in the forcast. Just nice 8-15 knots E E/NE. We actually put a couple of buoys out to simulate racing (while we didnt). Real good to see Byron and Murray sailing up and show us the way..nice to see lan, Barry, Mick,Murray, Byron,Bruce, Tom,John and Lyndon all sailing together. Maybe next time we'll get more foilers up from the south?!?

James Farley (12642km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet RF91, TR8 7.6, Starboard Race 900 - Wind ENE 12-15 knots Perfect foiling conditions, sunny, warm and a nice seabreeze. Good to see stacks of people on the water and even practice some upwind/downwind today with a couple of marks. The NM includes a semi-foiling gybe, so pretty happy with that.
Murray Towndrow (8653km): Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU Fanatic formula, phantom 95/110/950/250 8.9 Duotone course NE 15-20knts Belmont Bay NE 12-15knts Marmong Covered some of the lake today, retreated to Marmong for shelter and a couple of informal laps around the cans. Belmont was nasty on the return, well overdone
Andrew Haigh (48982km): Coal Point, NSW, AU, NE 14-22 Stingray. Whisperer and 5.5m Big NE and lots out. Yachts everywhere. Headed up to Marmong, but a bit patchy up there, loads of wind in Belmont bay. Unfortunately Hugh had an off and has done some damage to his foot. Fingers crossed not too serious.
Ian Wright (16029km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU HWR , Race+, 900 ,Stab. 2 deg and 1.5mm shim. Loft 7.8. First time foil racing on a a set course. A good turn out from the club plus Murray and Byron who sailed up from down south somewere.. E then turned to N/E 10-15ish.
Byron Mcilveen (63644km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Foil falcon, duotone 8.9, starboard Falcon 90, s2 venom 7 , select v max 31 Started on foil went up to marmong with Muz did some racing was sweet foil conditions at marmong but coming home sooo much more wind at coal point it was survival geting home. So came in riged small sailed the little board first time in a while sweet sail sore body now but great day. 24 out of the foil scared shitless way quicker on the fin.
Bruce Healey (24088km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Nice arvo, speed is your enemy on a foil, I am very friendly.
sboardcrazy (24418km): 10-18kts then building to 20-25kts E- NE Coal Point, NSW, AU Sailed 1.44pm - 4.12pm 7m NCX - WT57- 34WT weedy then 5m Gator -WT57 - 34 weedy then 5m - WT85 waveboard - 20cm cntre fin If this is La Nina bring it on! Started patchy 10-18kts , built to 20kts then 20-25kts. A summer strength NE in spring. 1st test of the WT57 ( 90ltres)..Perfect day for it, messy chop with c 40-50 yachts having an interclub race above the point.. Great board forgiving but felt bleedin fast..nothing like flying fully powered over the backs of chop..felt much faster than it was. Not a bad nm for the conditions and hopefully I'll improve as I get used to it.. Gybes were crapola.. I need a gybe refesher session..though it was very messy.. Started out a bit underpowered except for the gusts . the board is a much better fit for my size so I could get into the back strap earlier than the big one which was good in the messy chop. Went through the yacht races a few times and hardly noticed the wake etc..it would have been horrendous on a slalom board.. Few full on runs past the point, the last one was getting too much for the 7m so came in and rigged the little sail. That was fully maxed by the time I got back out. Only one run with the 5m on the WT57. it was well behaved but the board was getting too much for some of the 90cm ramps and I needed a smaller fin. I could have added more tail flex but I figured it was time for the waveboard.. Only one run on that too. It was great but I'd been out for 2.30hrs and was pretty stuffed so I figured I'd stop before I started stacking it..( which would have been nasty that powered up).. The last run I realised I hadn't done up the leg straps on the seat harness so I dropped in the water to fix them. the RMS boat came and plonked itself about 15m downwind of me..I thought it was checking if i was ok. I yelled out I was . It was in a bad spot for me to start . I only just got up and managed to bear off in the space he gave me without drifting onto it. I noticed him checking out the other sailors later so they are checking whether you are wearing a floatation vest. Still bouncing.. Andrew , Byron , John , Cohen , Hugh on the foils then Byron , Lajos , Hugh , Michael on fins.. Hope Hugh's foot isn't too bad.. No graph as the Newcastle one is down. |
