First time at Liptons since bleeding Bob broke his head. Thankfully no more weed bergs. Had a hard time trying to line up a decent gust on the way in and almost impossible to get one on the way out as well for a decent alpha. My two fastest runs were following Joe in and sailing the same angle as the master. They didnt feel fast but just proves how crucial the correct angle is.
Good turn out from the local teams and a couple of pesky pinnas.

Forecast was better than yesterday yet it didn't feel any better, so I rigged a bigger sail, in hinmdsight I should've used a bigger board as well.
The wind today had it's moments but it was GAF with a lot of holes, so bloody hard work at times getting going.
Still a day sailing is better than pretty much anything (apart from a day out with my Chicky Babe) so who am I to complain,
Great crew out with some stray flying around Pina's.
Some excitement whilst packing up tonight with the Ranger setting up traps for a rouge emaciated Magpie who has been seen regularly whining in the area about loosing to much mojo. Strange bait used in the trap, comprising of a goon bag of red, a block of chocolate and a pack of chips.
Great session, not quite the best session ever but the best for today so you can't ask for more than that.

1929 days ago Coodanup WA, AU,
Had a great day out in the paches of weed and smooth, just carving it up a bit.
I think Im starting to get a handel on this alpha caper, Iv been doing quite a few of them now, and it feel great.
Fangman got a bit confused when he saw the 5.5 sail I had rigged, and didnt know what to rigg. I convinced him
that the wind was gona pic up sume,.... but??? Had the 48 board with 55/16cm fin with skirt to get in shalow
and smooth.
So all up another top ten day in the smooth with a bit of rough on the outside,

1929 days ago I started the day with a bit of science news that caught my eye. The CSIRO have discovered a new element. It sits way down the bottom of the table, in the heavy metals group. Obviously it’s very dense, but also has some surprising properties. Firstly, in its elemental form it’s a banded in colour and crusty in appearance. However the incredible softness and the tendency to emit visible vapours at room temperature are the properties that astounded the CSIRO researchers. In fact one of the researchers went so far as to suggest that this element was softer than Kleenex could ever imagine. And how is this for coincidence? They named it Bozium.
Anyhoo, I just thought I would share that snippet. I am off for a sail now.Post more later.
I usually budget on BOM being about seriously optimistic, but they missed the target by miles today. 28 knots forecast, 16 knots delivered and yes I rigged too small. The breeze was mainly a WSW direction and so runs off downhill were hard to find and I didn’t manage to get more than the odd short lived burst. The tide was too low for alphas in front of Wamba Rd, so conditions wise, it was a sub expectations sort of day. Outweighing all that was an arvo on the water, sunshine and just mucking about windsurfing.
NoFin was also out, (along with a brief appearance from Pepe) and the light breeze suited him nicely. I tried to avoid sailing near him to avoid being confused with Tubbyguts Basil and spent my time running across the chop in between experimenting with mast foot settings on the Missy Flow. So between the two of us I reckon we did a good job soaking up a relaxing session.
Huey didn’t deliver what was expected, but no complaints here, Top Ten Fangy Day cruisin’.

1929 days ago 1 categories Not quite up to forecast, but it was the right move, fastest I've been all year.
Forecast was looking great for a late Liptons session, so I gambled on it being somewhere near right. Measure 20ave and 25kt gust on Avalon Beach at 2:15, so I packed up the smaller stuff, waved some 400 wet and dry over the mainly finished swoody 18 and headed down.
Arrived about 3pm very surprised to see nobody on the water, not even a kite. I thought there may have been a major shark siting, but Hardie, Elmo, Lunny, woody and strop reckoned they were waiting for the wind to peak.
Was hoping to whack the 5.4 on the 43, but wind just wasn't there, so went with the 5.8, and gave the 18 swoody an outing.
This combo was very hard to get going in marginal winds, just nothing in the fin until planing, but once powered and going it felt fantastic.
Had trouble getting any speed. entry point was too far forward, moved mast track all the way forward, to get a slight improvement, tried really leaning back, putting more weight on the back foot, but I couldn't acheive a stable trim, board was going all over the place and no faster. Then a front footstrap screw came undone, so headed back to the launch. while fixing the strap, (screw had just come undone, how does that happen?) I noticed a lack of downhaul, fixing that gave me a much better trim and I improved my speed by a knot, then of course the wind started to drop, but I was hungry to make use of my new found trim, so ended up really struggling to get back, but at least I wasn't over the other side.
