Island Bay patchy NW with occasional gust to 15?; small wind chop on outgoing, HW-1.5 to 0; F-Type 158, Drake 640, mb 1330 (-2); Redline 8m8 - period of reasonable power (too lazy to rig 9m6).  The nm had 4 gybes ... good to get out in the sun - looked like it picked up to 7m8 as I left!

Pt Chev, Waitemata Harbour, Auckland.  WNW 8-12Kn > 13-18Kn

RRD 145, MFC 53, Simmer X Type 9.0m.

Arrived at Pt Chev about  2 1/2 hours before low water to find a few people out on what looked like 7.5 or 8m  and nobody planing so rigged big. Spent  1/2 hour or so underpowered planing in the puffs before another 1/2 hour  of comfortable sailing as the wind continued to build. Then a couple of hours way overpowered trying to keep everything under control and wishing I was on smaller gear. Would have been easier sailing on the Pt Chev side in lighter wind. Low tide and all the sand bars ( I found some new ones) forced me to sail in the gap between the end of Pt Chev and Kauri Pt where it was considerably windier and rougher  as the wind funnels between the land.

Well done on the PB - I nearly went to Herne Bay/Meola (from Short St) - but the forecast didn't look consistent enough!  Looking at Monday now ...
