5-15kts SSE - SE Coal Point, NSW, AU

Arrived there and Andrew was talking to Tim who was ready to go out with his big freeride board + 8.3m? sail. Looked good ( or at least compared to lately) 8kts gusting 15kts +. Tim took off and flew  way down below the point.I thought no way will he get back from there! The wind died down to about 5kts.He slogged back in and got the formula board out + 9m + sail.( and still didn't plane all the time ).

I'd rigged the 115Xcross - 7.5m + 38 weedie. It looked pretty useless and usually I wouldn't bother but I was rigged so went out 5 -7kts odd. I'm a short arse and even with the boom at the bottom of the cutout it is at nose height so hooking and unhooking required a little spring in the air..Dicey when you are subplaning and wobbly with no wind in the sail!Surprised I was thinking I'd fall in still hooked in but I didn't.

Being an eternal optimist I worked upwind hoping it might come back in..the wind gods smiled! It came bacxk in c 8-10kts with occasional patch of 14kts odd. Wow! You can tell it's been pretty bad when you are stoked to be planing at about 17kts!

Stayed out about 1 3/4hrs. Got down below the point at one stage and was worried I wouldn't get back but managed ok.The wind was veering a bit from SSE - SE.

Wow ! Feels fantastic to have been planing again and there was actually some sun!

Both Tim & I agreed it's wetsuit time next sail.

Nice work to get a PB in those conditions Tim and so close to a 2 sec best.

I need to get hold of a 10 metre sail for days like yesterday.

Hewy Tim when did you get the best speed- your first run or later? You beat me you bugger! Wink

Pics of Tim coming in to finish. Wind had died a bit but just add a few gusts and that's about it!
