Bruce Healey (25109km): ![]() Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Southerly a bit earlier & stronger than expected. Nice arvo, pretty full on, water not as flat as you expect here so speed below what might have expected. Some beautiful alpha conditions. CASL 62, 5.9, 19MUF
Andrew Haigh (52412km): ![]() Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Falcon 79, Maui TR9 6.6m Moderate wind to start with, then it hit big time. First run I just let it go and it felt super quick, looked at the GPS and it just showed 0.0 Spent the rest of the day getting 36 and 37s. Driving home I was wondering if the data for that run had recorded correctly. Real speed showed a 39.13!

sboardcrazy (26796km): ![]() 20-25kts SSW gusting to 40kts Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 68ltre starboard acid waveboard , 4.8m sailworks hucker + 18 cms freemove weedie. 78ltre Tabou Pocket wave + 4m Sailworks revo What an epic sail! Really came in. I toughed it out long enough to get one bearaway following Matt. The wind was getting under the board and it felt like it was getting airborne. .Decided to try and get back over the channel..2-3' breaking waves couldn't hook in as too dicey and couldn't hold it not holding in. 35-40kts (I can handle 20-25kts with that combo)..Board got ripped away and thrown downwind several times.. At least I know I can now swim 50m without having a heart attack.. only just caught it a few times.. Couldn't start as well as grossly overpowered and board blown upside down all the time the clew and mast sunk to the bottom and wouldn't come up. Matt , Andrew , Milsy and Andrew all had survival sails in. Rerigged 4m and out but it had died a bit and underpowered with sinker so back to 78 but should have left 4.8m on.. Boy usually when I'm blasting over the back of waves I feel like the board is a bronco and on the edge but the little sinker was so comfortable and smooth! Bruce , Frothie, + others..
Chasing the gear as its' thrown downwind..

Only the second time I've sailed the 68ltre so very happy with speeds. Faster than my other boards - 1st bearaway 28kts + ( usually have to push to get that from the others ) next 31.7 next 32.7kts.. Didn't gybe much got upwind well using new technique and no spinouts. Water a little deeper after rain. Still hard to start the sinker as you needed to be hanging off the boom straight away so the fin didn't drag on the bottom.
I decided no hassle, I'd just get blown in and walk back around the shoreline..Manged to get a lull and surviavl sail in..Reminded me of my surf days with waves crashing over except safer..

I like a bit of adventure if it's safe.. The same situation would have been scary off Coal..
