Peel Inlet, WA, AU, Another sensational sail at Liptons, firstly thanx for the sacrifice Jake wind increased 10kts when you leftSurprised, I posted using KA72, though I used 2 x GT-31's and used the fastest one, the 2 sec on the other GT-31 was 40.51 ktsEmbarassed.  What an unbelievable seabreeze season we're having, that's my 11th session over 35kts in December alone, 2 x sessions over 39kts, and 2 x 40kts session, best seabreeze season since I've been doing GPS sailing.  Couldn't be happierCool.  Lots still out when I left hoping some others got onto some good gusts.

Gear My Fave as usual = Mistral Speed 95, MS TR9 6.3m, Pepeweed 22/48 (now 21cm)

Another great Liptons day. with plenty of company. including Kyson who was flying, and caused Speed girl some long wades in waist deep water.

My mission today was to test my first go at a dedicated liptons fin.

Many years ago I made a set of curved leading edge fins, for use in the middle of the estuary, these were around 30-35deg at the base and about 40-45deg at the tip.

I reboxed one to give me a fin with just over 40deg at the base, then reshaped the tip to give me about 55deg there. and a depth just over 20cm.

It wasn't quite finished however, but I thought it was close enough to test the idea.

I started oput with the 6.2 on the 48, This was fine, upwind downwind through the channel, But I san out a few times in the flat stuff going downwind. I think where I've been grinding the fin near the base I've sharpened up the leading edge too much, so a bit of checking with the profile gauge and some bogging may fix this. Still picked up a bit of weed when I stopped in the shallows, I thought the 55deg tip would stop that happening, maybe it straightense up too quickly.

Changed down to the 5.4 when the wind picked up, had trouble linning up with the gusts, shoulder started to get sore, so called it.

GW60 results,

2s 34.589, 5x10 33.372, 1hr 12.644, @ 23.820, NM 24.239, dist 39.27

Tabou Manta 54, NP RSR E7 7.0m 23cm Pepe weed,

2nd last on the water tonight didn't wet the board til after 5, gambled with the manta that the wind would fill in more, hedged my bet witrh the 7m again It was a bit of fun occasionaly to get going but not to bad overall.

Wind was a bit less consistant and was interesting trying to hook up a couple of gusts, there were a lot a happy faces out there again all chasing a bit more speed.

when the data dropped 6x 38's and 6x 37's

A fun evenings effort

Liptons, good fun getting chassed by Strop, and fun chassing Joe few time Wink. I was a little too optimistic I think, I rigged up the 5.4 early thinking blablabla.. Was nice on the sonic, at the end the wind picked up a touch so decided to try the 47 (again to optimistic), it was a notch faster that the iso for 2 laps, then started dragging my ass, and running out of wind so called it... then the wind came back nd picked up.. classic! quite gusty I found. Still great sesh and nice to meet boz and see Jake Tongue out. Few smiley faces wiz nice nbs
