Tuning day at Leighton - not that consistent but a few good puffs.

Pretty good conditions for Melville. Quite abit of south in the wind and not to gusty earlier on. Got gustier later in the afternoon. Powered up on the 7.8 out the back which quickly required a change down of fin, more DH and lower OH pos. Not too much water over the sandbar so stayed well clear of the speed runs with the carbon pointer. Reduced harness lines from 32" to 30". Jury is still out if this made much difference. Good to catch up with a few familiar faces coming out of their winter hibernation.

Late afternoon sail after work, I hit the water just as Fangy came in.
I was underpowered and wasn't having much fun with only crabs for company, so I decided to stop. The baby crabs were in profusion (my Dad will be happy). In some places there were four or more per square metre. I was careful where I trod. Luckily none made contact with my feet.
I am pleased with the alpha which was on my bad side - starboard tack. My starboard tack gybes have been improving of late. I don't get to practice them much at Melville, so hence the drive to Coodanup. I couldn't be bothered driving 15 minutes further to get to Liptons.
Thanks for the loan of the fin Fangy. It worked well in both boards. I just needed more sail. Should have rigged the 7m.

Went for an hour of power in the bay and warnbro sound. Wind seemed strong from the shore as is does at safety bay but was about 18-22 knots. Spotted Ant fanging around too. A pretty cruisy sail.

Was going to meet up with Scott at Leighton but wind looked light on, even though Scott was fanging, so decided to go have a yarn with the dutchie boys as I only loaded the 74litre 54 Manta and the ratty KAR 6.3 with more duct tape than mylar. Wind seemed to fill in a bit so decided to test the small board in less than ideal conditions. Happy with the result rekon I could put a 7.1 sail on and the board would still handle it. Was a messy cross chop today hard to find the gullys but the board handled the conditions well apart from one minor grab the rail on a slide out which saw me in the drink with the sail pointing down to the ocean floor, rookie mistake.

Short but sweet session. Almost stayed dry but figured it was worth a dip.
Good to see Woody, Tim and Chris.
