Twice! Lunchtime mission at first with Boz. Was very gusty but looked like it was going to go, so rigged the 7.1m on the 91 with a sym speed 31. Grovelled out then a gust came through and got overpowered. On and off but it settled down for an hour or so of pretty stacked conditions- not very flat and quite hairy at times. Wind was swinging between W and WSW making it pretty choppy. Was good fun but pretty tiring.
Went back to work for a few hours... then it looked too good so at 5:40 I went back and did the wet wetsuit thing.
This time it was more westerly with a touch of North so direction was heaps better and the wind had filled in. So 6.3m on the old 128L barge with 36MK2 for something different. First run hit my fastest peak of the day down at Majestic end... It was soooo nice. Flat out full power on 6.3m doing a couple of km runs through rolling chop bliss. Melville at its best. We didn't get many days like that this past winter so this one was a bonus and well worth squeezing into a cold wet wetsuit.
Mixed the numbers. Pretty similar speeds considering how different the gear and conditions were. I much preferred the later session despite having cooked arms.
