How is making an illegal trip out of your own locked down LGA worth it? And people wonder why we have had to stay in lockdown for so long? It's because selfish egotistical people like the above think they are above the law and it doesn't apply to them.

And then you go and post your illegal activity on a public forum!!! Wow.

Hey guys,  strong language on public forum. lets please all chill a bit.  did they break government rules ?  maybe , I dont know their situation?

Did they break GPS Challenge rules?  No.  perhaps there should be a rule on it??

Government will sort their rules, let the committee sort ours. The committee members are all watching and trying to do what's fair.

I feel guity travelling to lg and sailing and I'm not even in lockdown.  The whole situation is not fair now anyway. !!

Peter if you haven’t been locked down and been able to live life reasonably freely, I guess it would be easier to be chilled and feeling peaceful. If you have been in lockdown due to a few selfish people breaching the health orders, not able to see family or friends, many other dire situations, it’s not so easy.

Peter your ignorance is astounding. No one has called out or questioned the GPSTC committee in this instance. They have nothing to do with lockdowns so to suggest if should they have a rule for it is preposterous. Of course they didn't break the challenge rules. They DID however break NSW State lockdown rules. They DID break NSW Government rules. It must be a pretty big rock you are living under not to know what is going on both here in NSW and Victoria. What has been called out is the illegal activity of travelling out of lockdown designated LGA's. It is just selfish and wrong and I am astounded people here have congratulated them on their pb's when they clearly shouldn't have been at the Lake in the first place.

Where'sDave?

If these guys did break the rules and travelled from one locked down LGA to another? - then thats a disgrace and beyond selfish. If, they then posted hard proof of this transgression on a public forum, risking a $5000 fine - then thats just dumb arse. Hope those PB's are worth it!!

One of our team members crossed into another LGA earlier in the lockdown to sail. Our team captain deleted their data from that session.

Hmm, this is a tricky one, and the advisory group have discussed it at length. There is no consensus amongst us, some for no action, as gov't rules are not our responsibility, others for drastic action, there's talk of team penalties, banning sailors etc.

My view is that sailing at an illegal spot is unfair to the people abidding by the law, and although no GPSTC rule has been broken, it's against our spirit of competion, so I've asked this team captain and Ghostbusters captain, to ask the sailors to remove these posts.

Get off your high horse Decrepit, they did not brag about it when they posted and its only when PBs came up

that other sailors became interested. They have had their conduct talked about by the locals and will get a kick

in the arse when the get back to Primbee so lets leave it at that.

And well should any advisory group be cautious of all the pompous blah blah Decrepit!

The blah blah is BS

Is anyone aware of any area of Illawarra Lake sailed by SGC on 5/10/21 which is illegal under any federal or NSW law or regulation, or KA72 type rules? - there simply is no such 'illegal spot".

Also it is virtually unknown for any fair system of rules or law or codes to retrospectively punish or sanction - there simply is no law, or rule or code to infringe. Retrospective penalties, bans, sanctions etc. would be seen by most reasonable people and communities as grossly unfair and silly. Especially for a sporting groupings - think it through!

If the sailing community wants to create rules tethered to federal, state, or municipal rule domains for the future then it could so choose, but imagine the ramifications!

So we now see the blah blah descends from the lofty and pompous heights of health to the much lower level of ego and competition. As Terry notes above - its all about the PBs

Hmmmm.

I would refer the wounded to warrior surfer sailor /philosopher Gerry's posting of 4/10/21 - its a broad church of inclusivity this sailing community and its not just about scoring points but also fun and fraternity (which generally is not categorised by the strong language used above).

So we should follow Swamp Fox's sage advice above -  and just leave it alone

I agree 100% Tricky.

Decrepit-I have a question for you, does that mean you will apply this to all teams in every state that had restrictions ??? and how far back in time are you going to go????? FYI, Good luck working that out

Seems that applying this to 2 x teams as above is very unfair.

Gents, in defence of 76 year old Decrepit.  If you do not know, he has been a significant driving force behind the sport that you currently participate in.  His time and efforts on behalf of you in regards to both technical and participation rules deserves enormous credit not insulting commentary.  He is both thoughtful and on this discussion....correct, as usual.   This web based, international sport is designed to allow all to participate on a frendly, complimenary, basis so as to encourage and improve discourse between (mainly men) so as to help improve our mental and physical wellbeing.  Insulters please stop insulting.

Fez, I couldn't care enough to go trawling through previous posts, I can only respond to complaints sent in. As admin is split in half over this, my email was only a personal request. Keith agreed it was unfair and deleted his sailors post. It's completely up to Wayne what happens to St George's posts.

Hi big Z, it is the travel outside of your residential LGA, unless for essential reason, is against the current health orders, nothing to do with windsurfing or the lake rules. Plenty of people fined by the police here for this travel breach, you would’ve seen them stopping people just before Kiama. Obviously travel and people moving around facilitates the virus spread so it’s been an important health order. Fuel stops, food stops on travel have all contributed. Hopefully these orders still releasing next week. Don’t know why all the aggression to Decrepit, we’re so lucky he’s keeping this comp running for us. Direct your objections to me, happy to discuss with you when we’re allowed from Kiama lga into Wollongong LGA soon.

Sorry I haven't read through every post but the way I see it is maybe it's not in the rules as there hasn't been confronted with a pandemic

GPS challenge is australia wide and sailors have been staying in there own backyard because they have been told to by the government  ,

Rather than complaining about loosing a few points on this site and putting pressure on the GPS organisation,  maybe complain to people who have last there love ones ,people who have lost there livelihood  , the people that are putting there own lives at  risk because people won't stay in their own back yard

Big Z, maybe address the opposing argument with some respect, rather than referring to it as "blah blah blah", and you may gain some yourself!

I think its fair to say this issue goes way beyond the "sailing fraternity" as the actions of these people have the potentional to be damaging to many more. If thats pompous, then light my cigar!  Dez and Feilan have summed it up perfectly.

Hands off Decrepit! (Respect for, as usual, being a lone voice from the GPSTC willing to publicly comment)

Yes, you follow the covid rules for respect towards the ones that are much worse off than us

Decrepit is a gentleman and has contributed to gpstc and sailbreeze enormously, he has always a balanced opinion and respect for others, I just wish if anyone disagrees with him to show the same.

Wayne let us know when the public spanking will take place !

Hi Dezza - look forward to seeing you and the gang soon - maybe next week (southerly on Monday)?

Guys (Bostonfoil, Feilian, Reg, et al) for the record I didnt insult or attack the young and august Decrepit. I reinforced the need to be cautious of the pompous blah blah and was not attributing it to Decrepit who simply called it as he saw it rightly trying to defuse things. Read what I said - and yes of course I am aware of the Wuhan stuff - sadly probably more than most of you.  Trolling me at my age and lowly competitive standing is laughably innane but I have already forgiven you brother sailors.

Now initially I was just responding to some people (like Mr IDGAF) using unecessairly strong, insulting - even possibly legally remediably libellous - language towards the Saints boys (totally unwarranted regardless of whether or not the postings were naive).

My subsequent comments above were in response to all the bush lawyers - really guys  there is no 'fair', practical nor retrospective solution re scoring people when the playing field is so blatantly uneven (we all live where we live blah blah blah) - As Fez alludes to, does the GPSTC penalise people? How far back? Do we stop GPS racing in NSW? Australia? worldwide? For how long? Until covide lockdowns are over?

Well I hope not.

I stand by the views of those us who believe we all should now just chill out and move on, and that this is a forum re sailing and related fun - not the poisonous and partisan politics of corona virus. If someone needs to deal with covid neurosis then get a counsellor or dog etc. - but don't use use a sporting forum to ventilate.

Comrade Dezza please note I have been strictly compliant so please don't be mad at me but continue to give me your excellent tips on how I can sail better in the future - I clearly need help there.

For the record Dez, I have even been visited twice by apologetic police after nosey citizens' 'tip offs' in not one but two differing regions - and I was fully exonerated!

Peace out Smile
