Monday 10th October - Windsurf *** - The Stour at Wrabness – rain first thing then sunny.

Foil – 19.77 knot max, 18.31 knot ave., 12.38 knot hour, 16.20 knot mile, 53.04 km., 15.2 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Sailworks Retro 7.5.

October has been a fairly good month for wind and with today probably being the last chance to sail until maybe the end of the week I was keen to get out. With the forecast saying NNW around 15knots it was going to be another trip to the Rive Stour at Wrabness, if it had been NW I would probably stayed local going to Levington. The forecast was pretty spot on, an hour of rain around nine followed by wall-to-wall sunshine, as we haven’t been to the Stour for a couple of weeks Mags once again decided to come too:) With high water at Mistley at 1.09 we left Felixstowe around 9.30 after a cake stop at Lidl. As we got to the Orwell Bridge you could see the blue sky approaching, arriving at Wrabness Mag had her breakfast in the van while I set up my foil board on the small beach with plenty of water too but the wind looked pretty light so I rigged big, going for 7.5. I launched at 11.10 but the wind was very light and I had a few runs waiting for it to fill in, luckily it did pick up and it was pretty good for an hour with some long runs deep into Holbrook Bay. Several had now taken to the water from Bradfield, a mix of foil, wing and fin although it was much too light and inconsistent to fin today. At times the 7.5 was a tad too big but generally it was OK but it did get patchier as the session progressed and gybing was always better when the wind was up! After being out well over three hours, the tide now going out and the wind inconsistent it was time to call it a day so headed back to have a yummy lunch with Mag in the van and her about her day. She had once again gone for a walk in Wrabness nature reserve and collected a large bag of windfall apples:)

So not too bad a day, over three hours out in the sun even if the wind was very gusty, not sure that NW is the best direction for the Stour and also pleased to get a pic in the local paper:)
