Chookpond KAR 7m, Tribal Rapid 53, Weedspeed 25

Forecast wasn't awesome but was hoping to get the speed board out. Rigged 7m to make it a bit easier to get around in the lulls, and the forecast didn't look like it was going to be anything near 30kts in the gusts. Good call I think.

Not much happening to start with. Some very small gusts occasionally came through but very localised. There never seemed to be any wind near the bank when I went near it, so I did some runs in the middle of the pond wherever the wind came- getting a 38 on one lucky gust. On another attempt I had some weed stuck on the fin (there were some floaties around) and spun out in the chop at 36kts... thought I'd ride it out but the chop had other ideas and I caught a rail and went over the bars, breaking my harness line and bending up the harness hook. Managed to tie it back on a bit using the velcro from the broken part of the line and some downhaul rope (thanks Mark) and there was just enough angle on the bar to just keep the line in most of the time.

Until it wasn't and I got nailed again when the harness line popped out on the run. Drilled into the water but only doing 34kts. First time I've been winded in a while!

We all wanted 40 and at the end of the session some wind came through but speeds were basically the same as the better gusts earlier. Maybe having 10Hz GPS has some advantages: I can say "I did 40 today" hahaha because I found a single 40kt peak on one of the 39kt 2 sec runs... mwaaaahahaha
