5- 16kts NE Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU - level 0.32

Sailed c 2.30 - 3.15pm

7.5m Turbo - RS4 ( 111ltres) - 24cms FF

A bit underdone but fun. My wrist and lower back were complaining so it's probably lucky the wind didn't last long.

The weed near the pole is really thick. Lovely and glassy but I got bogged down in it with the fat foiled fin. It will be great with stronger winds!

Trying to get my head around gybing again. It's a lot easier in flat water although my wrist doesn't like throwing the big sail around.

It was predicted to get to 19kts but I figured that was a bit optimistic for this time of year.

Mike and Pete . Geoff went out on his raceboard and 9m as we came in but it was over by then.

Well it definitley got to forecast up here, and then some. 22kts

A bit overcooked on *chosen gear (mast ripped through luff pocket rigging smaller NP sail).
JP SLW 165ltr - Ezzy Cheetah 8.5m - 55cm fin

I wouldnt say it was a survival sail, as it was comfortable enough, at most times.
I went faster the other day in 12kts wind on this gear.
So i guess the Super Light Wind board does indeed like *light wind, atleast with this sail on it and me at 68kg anyway. Woops Smile

I did get a few steps closer to acheiveing the impossible though, the planing carve jibe. Probably still many steps away from it, but it's a good start to the season for me to get a bit closer to it.

I had a session earlier today with a mission: To fly over the patch i hit on my fist sail on this new-to-me board here 3rd August and smashed the nose as i came to an ubprupt stop.
I used a 28 fangy fin and mission accomplished.
There was probably alot of water under me today, but playing it safe at this stage in that area.
This is the fangy session track.

Also, i guess i should be learning to turn around before letting go aye? Laughing

Yes, BIG gear. The last 5 or 6 years here my brother used 8.5 and big board 90% of the time. It was rare to get over 18kts. Might be in trouble now with this big kit with super elnino looming. Anyway, I wanted to try it. I know now for next time. I’ve got a Mistral Explosion 145ltr and 6.4 KA freeride sail. Probably I’ll pick that next time it looks like that. PBS were just because it was my first post I think. I’ve had better sessions on the kit in winds up to 18kts.
