6-14kts SSW-S Buff Point Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.43

 7.5m Turbo - WT64 ( 112ltres) - 24cms FF

 Sailed 3- 3.45pm

1st sail in almost 3 months since my ear operation. I didn't want to jump back in on a strong rainy day as forecast for tomorrow.

Perfect day for it. Not too cold , sunny late afternoon light , safe depth and enough wind in the gusts to get going.

I took the Windtech out as I didn't expect to get going and  it's more comfortable subplaning with it's longer length.

I could have used the slalomboard.

I hit the bottom in the shallows once doing a subplaning gybe where I sunk the tail.

Got all my gybes but had to stop for a rest. Not up to sailing fitness cardio yet. Av 164 max 185 bpm.

Very happy.

It seemed to be getting better as I packed up but I got home on dark as it was.

 Just me.

Jimmy's beach, nsw. The relationship with the new gear is off to a rocky start. Battling again, but each time it's getting better. The conditions aren't helping me figure it out. Sloppy waves today, not used to sailing SW here. Hard to tell the strength. At first, I used the local observations from Marine Rescue Port Stephens station, yeah nah. I went with JP 135, 6.5, SS Ghost 101 foil. Like a wild bucking horse. Overpowered i think.
Swapped to flow 900 foil, 4.5 Ezzy. Never used this old sail i just found. What a beauty. 411 luff 160 boom, i guess it’s high aspect? Nice to use such a small one. It held together after alot of snap crackle popping when rigged on the beach, no idea when it was last rigged, could have been many years ago.

It took some pumping when a gust was found, but once up it all felt very lively, powered, and pretty in control. A couple of scary breaches. Used to riding 101 mast, this one is 90.
Looks like it’s going to have better angles of attack then old kit. Easy to get around.
